Posting this for someone else in another thread, but it's as good a list as I could make for running three gheists while keeping the army well structured and in sync with each other. If anyone has any suggestions however, I'd love to hear them. Going to run with this on Sunday in a friendly game.

The magic phase will be limited to raising and drawing dispell dice with the cursed book. The +2 should help the lvl1's with this. Sweep one flank with the Terrorgheists. They should be self-sufficiant enough to succeed. The core of the army remains quite static, responding with the dire wolves and zombies to slow down/re-direct. The horrors make a good anvil and will allow you to get into the flank with the black knights. I'd run the ghouls in horde formation and look to flank something. I'd only go head on with them if I knew the gheist brigade were going to make a rear charge in a turn or two.

Heya! Cheers for the response in my other thread.

It looks like we had very similar Ideas.

I wasn't convinced of the reliability of the screams, so I hadn't taken scabskrath, and to fit my lord into 600pts for a 2400 list I dropped the Aura.

Your core choices are pretty much identical in terms of whats there and what it does. I had dropped out the mortis engine, which helped me settle on the 2400 points value, but mainly because I honestly don't believe it will be able to keep up with the TGs.

Your lvl 1 hero vampire is the same points as the one I came up with, but (iirc, don't have the book to hand) I gave him the always strikes first power, the dragonbane armor (+1 save, 2+ ward vs fire).

I had thought that 2x 3 vargheists would be better than 6 crypt horrors (remembering my 2400 limit) simply because they were cheap enough to not be big targets, yet dangerous enough (I think) that they would cause some serious hurt if ignored, and could be used on the opposite flank to the general due to them being vampiric.

My biggest worry is the terrorgheists (particularly the lord) getting squashed early.. but I think the list would have some awesome matchups aswell.

I went with the crypt horrors over the vargheists for two reasons. When I've played each type the crypt horrors always surprise me by being very reliable while the vargheists die way too easily. I also didn't want my battle line to be rolled over. The horrors make for a solid anvil on one flank. In this list I would keep the mortis with the battle line and let the terrorgheists do their own thing. That gives your ghouls/zombies a 6+ regen and the horrors a 4+ It also provides +2 to the necromancer who can raise within the battle line and the vampire + black knights should be within range to assist.

I thought about the cons of having the ghoul king on a mount but I don't face much, if any, war machines in my gaming group (Ogres, Demons, Chaos, Beastmen, VC). As for line of sight I imagined hiding the ghoul king behind the other terrorgheist either in a 'L' formation or a staggered diagonal line, but it's situational and you would have to adapt.

As for screams and reliability, in the first 2-3 turns I would use the terrorgheist as a team, so at Ld9, -1 for Aura, a single unit has to deal with 3*(2d6+6) and 2d6+4 preferably from the flank or rear. And I would probably just fly march around weakening units to the point were they become less of a threat then move on.

All in all it's definitely a list to play for fun.
