So hey.

This is my first list ever made, let alone for Vampire Counts.

Not sure if I should've used NEW TOPIC or NEW ARMY.... :/

I'll only really be playing games against my brother and his wife, and they're playing SKAVEN and DWARVES respectively. So we're only really playing for fun. I don't mind losing a few times.

But yeah, this is my first ever list. So hopefully I did it right.

I'm starting off with a 2.5K list, then getting another 2.5K expansion afterwards, rather than going for the 5K straight off.

Just can't find another 37 points that I like...

The list says I have two generals because for the 2.5K list, I'll be using Melissa as the General, but once I begin the 5K expansion pack, the Uther will become the General as he is more powerful with magic.

All the characters (except the two Cairn Wraiths) will be in their squads all the time. I figured the Cairn Wraiths could just go around and do their own thing... Character hunting maybe....

So, the special characters and escorts are:

Count Uther Van Brauchen & Countess Marianne Van Brauchen in Grave Guard
Viscount Olaf Van Brauchen in Black Knights
Royal Lady Melissa Van Brauchen in Skeleton Warriors
Cairn Wraith
Cairn Wraith

I did my best with the names. I'm not so hot on Transylvanian naming conventions.

The only couple of things I can see wrong rules wise is that your Vampire Lord in your second army needs to be the General because his LD is higher than your Master Necro. So if you make your Vampire Lord use Vampire Lore you should be all set.

And magic items are unique, so you can't use multiple Banner of the Barrows.

Looks like an interesting list. I think that if you're playing for fun then you'll have a great time. Good luck and give them hell!

Right.

I've updated the list. Thanks for the help.

With the extra points... I added some Vampire Powers to Uther [Red Fury & Beguile], and I also added Blasphemous Tone to the two Mortis Engines.

Okay, the only thing that I'd say needs work is your unit sizes. I'd recommend joining the 2 unis of ghouls together in the first list to make a horde, because hordes are so much fun to play with. Same with the skeletons, they should really be joined together into 2 bigger units of 40.

And now we come to the grave guard. 10 grave guard will do NOTHING. Against dwarves you can expect for them to die to shooting, probably by turn 1 or 2. You need at least 25-30 per unit IMO for them to not simply be dead by the end of round 1 of combat.

For the first list, I'd say either drop the GG and put Mellissa in the (now bigger) ghoul or skeleton unit, or cut a couple of corpse carts/a mortis engine and bump up the GG unit to 30 or so.

In the supplementary list, I'd say cut down the extra ghouls to 40 (So you have two 40 man hordes) and bump up the count's escort, then drop the countess' escort altogether. Stick her either with the count in the GG or put her with one of the 40 man skeleton/ghoul units. Any extra points should then go into bumping up the black knights as much as possible, because they're also a little small.

That should mean that your characters' units last long enough to get into combat and start fighting, because nothing is more depressing in a game than your lord never getting to combat because his bunker have been shot to pieces. This obviously isn't making your army into a tactical machine, but it should be a lot more fun to play with.

LIST UPDATED

Thanks for the help Chaos.

I did like you said, dropping and bumping up the units.

I increased the Count's escort to 30, and also put the Countess in the group. I removed the GG from the first list and put the Royal Lady in the Skellies.
I also increased the Viscount's escort by another 5, giving him ten in total and I added another squad of Hexwraiths.

And as long as I win a few times... that's all ;)
