to make a 750p army with now lord and only 1 rare and only 50p of magic items what should you take. maybe playing with cairn wraights and a banshee? and should you make a vampire ethereal? plz need advice

Well 750 points ain't alot!
First of it leaves you with less than 200 for your rare so your only choices would be CW and Varghulf... Here I'd choose the CWs and include a banshee aswell...

For general a Vampire with dreadknight, Dragonhelm and black periapt perhaps? (1+ AS with Lance and able to store dice)

Thats already 325 points so it leaves you with 425 ... For core perhaps 24 Ghouls (192 points) and then spend the last 233 on 9 black knights plus standard or whatever:)

Uthiliano's probable got it right. you have yourself some hard hitters, mobility and a solid core as well as a general who is pretty tough. An ethereal vampire is a good choice so long as you dont run up against any magic. If you do, you will very quickly see your army disappear

the problem is we may only take 50p magic items.
i was thinking maybe an vampire with forbiddenlore vampire's
a unit skellies a unit ghouls and 3wraights. do you now where i can print the new rules for a banshee and a cairn wraight? maybe put a cairn wraight or a banshee as a general?

that is 50 points mate

Dreadknight = 25
Dragonhelm = 10
Black Periapt = 15

... Skellies wont do better in lower points than always... still a waste of points... ghouls on the other hand will probably do better against most enemies... and where they dont work you have high str BKs and banshee...

Problem with FL is that it leaves you 15 points for defense... so that leaves you nothing and you will have to hide him... and in a 750 point game it's too much to waste...

If he takes FL he can still get a decent AS and WS through his magic allowance. In a 750 point game he may have 187.5 points in heroes.
Maybe than take Walach's Bloody Hauberk together with a gulf and you got 355 points.
For core I would take 25 ghouls and you still got points left for about 15 GG without command.

If I got it all calculated right

So you dont reckon Bloodlines would take up magic items allowance? (normally does if run by a GW shop or summat like that)...
Think you should run that thru the whoever runs this small campaign...

That is up to the organiser of the tournament to clear that one out.

On the other hand, our 'normal' equipment comes from bloodlines as other characters just have it as an option (or come fully equiped goddamnit :mad2:) in their profile.

And btw as a comment on the banshee/wraith general...
On page 88 in VC book it says you have to include minimum 1 vampire in your army and the vamp with highest leadership should be general... But in the most resent FAQ they told us to disregard this section completely and in the BRB it just says you have to pick the general with the highest leadership...

So whether that means you can completely neglect to take a vampire at all and just bring a 60pt CW as general I have no idea...

Actually they told you to disregard everything in that section except for the fact that a vampire must be the general. Thus a vampire or vampire lord or any of the characters must still be in the army list.

And I have never encountered vampire powers being part of the magic allowance ever before, and by doing that essentially makes the majority of the powers a complete waste to take

I wouldn't say they're a waste bloodlines would be a waste... I can think of quite a few better than most magic items out there...
Infinite Hatred, Red Fury... Dark Acolyte, FL, MotBA are also stuff most armies would dream of having acces to as magic items aswell!... Flying for 30 points is a bargain compared to the flying carpet... etc etc

Taking red fury on a hero vamp is perfectly acceptable but when your points are combined it means that you have absolutely no protection. same with the other more expensive ones like FL, the most you can achieve is a 6+ ward or 5+ armour, not very desirable at all, especially in small point games.

F.ex. in my build above I used 50% bloodline and 50% magic item even tho I thought it was to be combined!... Vamps are still awesome generals even tho they aren't allowed 50pts of both magic and bloodline... You have a lvl 1 caster able to spend all the dice given to him! And on top of that you have a decent fighter more capable than most!

thanks for helping me out.
but the problem is that were going to play 750p
no lords -max 1 rare and max 1magic item max 50p.
thats why i need to take only 1
i have to take the choisbe fine off a magic item or take 1 vampire power
maybe thake an ethereal vamp could.
other amy's will not have to mutch of magic also.
i now its not easy for a magic army to play without magic.
if my vamp die's ist all over.
so i ask myself the same questions over and over.
take a safe or go for the ethereal vamp and put him with the wraights?

:Blood Lord,
a vampires powers or bloodline should never count towards a magical item. period.

the bloodline is neither magic or an item. so why would it count? and if that is the case, then tell them that their leader can only take armor cause it is the same thing as a magical item. only one great weapon on their unit or even upgrade either a SB or a musician, and not both.

enough ranting, the army comp of 750 points is what I am doing as well, while i enjoy ghouls as much as anyone else, they are just weak with poison. a zombie army is weaker than the ghouls, but doesn't require the extra item to raise them.

it sounds like you and I are playing the same version of the war bands 750 points module. If so, you can take 1 magical item and your powers, you can not take a necromancer because you need a vampire to lead, and his point cost with your vampire under powered is just silliness.

so here is what I did, red fury and a terror blade as my one magic item. the terror helps against any comp, and the fury helps in combat, I put him solo, and did fine casting invocations on my zombies, I had a pack of dire wolves on the side, waited till i could flank with them, and continued spawning endless ranks of dead.

it works well, but the downfall is the dark elves army comp... hydra's corsairs, and black knights of death. the tomb kings compositions look ok, skaven were fun, high elves will always strike first unless you take a nightshroud, but why get him into close combat? and then any other low army comp you will be fine against by adding a minimum ghoul with ghast, so wolves, ghouls and lotssa zombie tar pitting should be fine as long as you get off the flank and invocate well on your turn, a curse of years or winds of undeath is nice, but not needed.
