Hi All,

I've just played my first game with Vargheists. I used two blocks of 4 and they didn't really do anything. They were hard to control and against the army I as playing (Daemons) didn't have many targets. In the end I lost both for no real gain. Actually that's not totally true one died pinning a unit for my knight bus to run over.

Should I stick with two lots of 4 or group them together into a block of 8 and really smash face? Or keep them as 4s but run them together for combo charges? I lose the rank bonus but gain flexibility if I face a gun line for example, as they could split up.

Cheers.

these guys are usually used to hunt warmachines, light monsters, cavalry (and chaff in general) or as flankers to support another unit. for these roles a unit of 3-4 will do nicely. if you want to use them to frontal charge big blocks you will need 8 (and a willingness to spend almost 300 points). for this role though, you might be better off with the considerably cheaper crypt horrors.

2 blocks of 4 all the way. They are way more useful as a threat to help you dictate the flow of battle than the actual combat they get involved with.

2 of 4 definitely, they are far more versatile that way. Having said that, I am still a fan of a unit of 6.

Thanks everyone,

I've just submitted my list for my first ever tournament. With 2 lots of 4 vargheists. :)

Cheers
