OK, so I would like another army to work alongside my VC so that I don't get bored and give up. But which one? Please, vote and comment.

RE: A New Army ... But Which??

It has to be Dwarves. Chaos wouldn't really see you change your pallette much. Get a bit of Green/Red with Gold, Bronze and Mithrill in there! Plus they're pretty sweet models!

Cheers,

Hey u_m, and thanks, I think you may be right. Especially as I plan to ... Convince my mum to get me Throgrim on Monday. I just love the model! Always have, to be honest.

RE: A New Army ... But Which??

Technically speaking chaos would cause you to change your palette depending on if you decided to do one of the various god armies or a mix of them because Tzeentch and Slaanesh colors aren't exactly like VC colors at all, Nurgle is a bit closer to VC colors and Khorne I think is different to VC colors as well depending on how you paint your VC.

I think the other questions to help answer is do you want another evil like based force or a good like based force and what kind of models do you like from both armies, also background plays a role then there's always something that just reaches out and grabs you from one of their books.

RE: A New Army ... But Which??

You have a point about Chaos Dwarfs, but where the heck do you get 'em from?!

I'm pretty sure that Forgeworld are going to release the models and a new Chaos Dwarf novel is coming out with a full army roster in the back - Its on Warseer somewhere
Mantics do some awesome CD models if you don't mind taking money away from GW.

You would have to be a proper nob to not let someone play with a previous edition Chaos Dwarf codex. that could work.
(i'm calling opponets a nob, not the CD player! ha!)

Out of the two options... Dwarfs i suppose... the guy on shield reminds me of Vitalstatistix from Asterix fame!

RE: A New Army ... But Which??

OOOH, I know about Warhammer Forge, I can't wait to see what they come up with next. I really like the guy on Toad Dragon, and the Marienburg Land Ship, and the gunners are OK, but the demi-gryph is just naff, in my honest opinion.

And I have no problem with taking money away from Games Workshop. I just think of it as, I wouldn't need to if they produced the models ...

And I really should have put an option for 'Other - Please state', I suppose

RE: A New Army ... But Which??

If you're into chaos dwarfs and don't mind GW being mad at you, Mantic has a great range of Chaos Dwarfs that might have a different name, but in fact they are Chaos Dwarfs. The only thing is that you'd have to play with a very much outdated PDF-dex, but if you don't mind that either and like the fluff and the models. Go for it.

I personally find the Mantic Chaos Dwarfs very nicely done and if I'm not completely mistaken they'll soonishly expand their range so you can purchase almost anything from them. The CD Army obviously also offers a lot of converions opportunities, as there are no official models for most of the stuff anyway.

In case you wan't something that plays completely different than VC try one of the Elven Armies or Slaaneshi Daemons. They're fast and fragile and normally low on numbers, but they can hit quite hard and win more through good positioning than through sheer power.

RE: A New Army ... But Which??

I like the idea of a bit of both armies at the same time tbh, even though its props not the best idea bt it just gives you opportunity to experiment as they both offer something different to vc

Now, I'm gonna throw a spanner into my own plans. I've just started reading 'Knights of Bretonnia' by Anthony Reynolds, and it's really speaking to me. So ...

I'm going to do a core force of Bretons (from the Ducal lands of Parravon by the Grey Mountains), augmented by various units from both the Dwarfs and Wood Elves, merely because I collect and think that it would look awesome. So ... Sorry! I should have looked more closely at my options before posting this

This will be in the works for a heck of a long time, probably won't be done until after I've left college (so two years) but it gives me something to flick between with my VC!

Well, Wood Elves I have liked for AGES but kind of disregarded, and they are on the border of/Athel Loren is in Bretonnia. And Dwarves from the Grey Mountains seem to be around enough ... But I am going to do my Dwarfs first. I still have some from battle of Skull Pass, so I can do them

I know! I got it and then just did nothing with it  And I found the models when I was clearing my room so it could be redecorated.
