A new Fantasy RP: General opinions and interest

Good ideas floating around.

The idea I had was that seeing as some people won't want to be Lahmians the other characters would be assassins, thieves, whores etc and other people that would be helpful to Lahmians. I was coining the possibility of a playable Von C character who wants his claws in the city also. As the Lahmians grow in power, due to the help of the mortals, the mortals too grow in power with the help of the vamps, and as such become master criminals, heads of brothels, mecenary captains etc. as the lahmians slowly eke their influence throughout the city.

This sound good?

That is how they operate, yes. Lahmians rule through mortals. It's like a Lahmian is a powerful noble but in the end her husband ( who is of course bitten and so he is a tool ) is even more powerful in the society to make sure that all eye's are on him and not her. That however does not change the fact that if someone desires to play a mortal criminal of said city and work with Lahmians...Well she or he -will- get bitten to assure loyalty but again that is a fairly minor 'thing'.
Damn, could write a huge list of what is acceptable and what is not for a Lahmian x) ( as in what position ).

Playing a Von character does work only if he opposes the Lahmians ( what would complicate the roleplay a bit)

or he is in some way completely under a Lahmian thumb...or he has done something to prove his loyalty and this is his final test. Hm!

Actually that in theory -might- work but again the Von would have done quite the damned feat to change factions so to speak. Probably again 'love' related reasons x)

Indeed sereth. I was going to allow one Von C position, and although he is in love with one of the other characters atm, its up to him whether he wants to stay loyal or not

A interesting idea but it might cause potential problems. The roleplay quickly will turn into what team will have more players over taking over the city and taking care of the numerous problems that would be prepared for the group. I actually have a very amusing idea how it all should work but...wont discuss that here. Hop to the chat if you want, Luci.

RP like? Nothing has yet been set and there are many possibilities to approach it but I dare to say there is some interest in it all at least!

I dunno, every city has one cr*ppy necromancer or two living in the sewers. However I'm unsure exactly how useful it'd be as a character. Perhaps as a healer and potion maker for vampires, I can't think of anything else

Poisons/curses. But all of that can be provided by most Lahmians or at least their Mistress who should be decent with magic.

I would advise against Necrarchs and Strigois if only because they simply can't hide in human society very well.

Plus Lahmians tend to be adverse to letting other vamps gain power I think! (Like how Nefereta was like "Screw you" to her brother and had Ushoran's kingdom destroyed.)

I'd like to play a von carstein in this sort of RP... Political manipulation... Aiming for power... Even if I end up against the lahmian vampires... And if you haven't noticed in my other RP, I have no problem failing in the end... But I'll be damned if I have my character take it without fighting back

Thats the problem there.

Von's are not in the same mindset as Lahmians. They tend not to go to a city to try to carefully take power. They march there with army to conquer it. Why they don't really work. Sure, you might as well play a different kind of Von but in that case you might as well be of the Lahmian bloodline anyhoo.

Edit: Yes, Von's have been in city's in secret but that is mostly for brief tasks and even then in the books they have bit of trouble due to their attitude x)

You could be a more corrupted version of Kavok in service to the Lahmians or something though :tongue:

You seem to be under the wrong impression here. Not all lahmians are fabulous. Most Mistress have one or two childe's who are quite skilled with the blade and used as a bodyguards. This does not mean that your character is a snarling dog on a leash of course, she still has to be smart enough to play the 'game' ( don't get caught, don't feed on random people, no random displays of vampiric strength, etc ,etc ).

However if you desire a character who is more focused on fighting and more of the rough work then you can still be a Lahmian. Just expect to be forced to wear a dress in public events still! At night, when it's time to work? You get your pants and your sword.

It is completely wrong that all Lahmians are just vamps in fabulous noble disguises.

Thats the thing... my ability to play female characters is... limited to say the least... I've tried on multiple occasions and all I seem to achieve is either a total bitch or a damsel who can't do shit... And I don't really enjoy playing either.. The first won't have any real character, and the other... can't do anything... I just don't have emotions down pat enough to play females well...

Edit: forgot second part of what I wanted to say... The male lahmians I see as being very much of the fabulous sort... Either that or complete tools to a female lahmian... which is probably the only lahmian I could pull off...

Not unless he struck of own his own, the sisterhood would never allow it.

I suppose the only way he could "Gain power" would be to come into service of a more powerful Lahmian sister.
