A Tale of Painters - Third Edition - Sign up

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
* Varghulf. Expensive and annoyingly in resin, decent details but very stiff pose. If you play at independent stores where 3rd party models are allowed, I'd look online for non-GW alternatives. If you are stuck playing at GW stores or wish to participate in official events, try searching online for conversion ideas based on the crypt flayer/horror kit.
I'm in the process of converting a Varghulf for a friend out of one of the Vargskyr I have from my 3(!!) copies of Cursed City I picked up from my FLGS when it came out. Turns out, the crypt flayer/horror/vargheist wings fit on it, size-wize, you just need to do some greenstuff work to blend the connections

I shall join and attempt to paint a Nighthaunt army, an Astral Templars force, the remainder of the contents of Blackstone Fortress, and a few other random things. 😛

I will try and theme it a bit more on Tale of Four Painters after I finish Blackstone (i've already finished four of the adventurers and most of the enemy grunts) and probably go a lot more heavier into painting and (eventually basing) the two AoS armies.

The only things you'll want for FEC that you can't get from multiple start collecting boxes are:

* Abhorrent Archregent. Not too pricey as a stand alone hero, but also comes in the broken realms box which should still be available most places and is a pretty decent deal in its own right

* horror/flayer courtiers: no actual models, so you're going to end up dedicating a whole set of three to converting some of these.

* ghoul courtiers: no actual models, and not too commonly used, so you may just opt to skip them. Alternatively, the Warhammer Underworlds ghoul warband has a handful of cool ghoul models you can run as courtiers without having to burn an entire batch of 10 ghouls for just a couple heroes.
Cheers for the advice! Yeah I may well do the bulk out of SC boxes. Did not know that re the Varghulf, being resin (never seen any FEC models "in the flesh" as it were) but was vaguely aware about the courtiers needing to be converted/proxied. I was up for converting or going alt on the latter and may well do so on the Varghulf as well then. I mostly just play with friends anyway so no need to be "official" (I'll likely for variety be using some of the Mantic ghouls as well for example).

Good shout on the Archregent I might make that a near future purchase.

I'm pledging my undead Mega Gargants army. I'm going with an Egyptian/Tomb Kings theme. I'll also run them as Ossiarchs.

Don't let the name fool you! All hark the return of one of our fabled members of staff - Redarmy27, now Mannerheim27!

Superb to have you back on the forum, and of course as one of the previous Dark Arts mods, I have high expectations 😉😁 That model looks amazing, where is it from? Looking forward to seeing your TK/Ossiarch army as well - plog please! 😁
