About Allied units

Iwas wondering, what are your thoughts about Allied units? I have a classic black coach and a Varghulf (Called Matancita) and I was wondering if they are useful in the current seting

Personally, (and it's only my opinion) despite owning a bit a FEC & Nightaunt (from when they where part of the VC) i don't use them with SBG.

Since your battle trait and faction rules don't work on them and you straight up get "nerfed" units since they don't get theirs either. There's no point to bring them. from a competitive standpoint

Especially when in addition the SBG book has a really really good roster of units ans there isnt really any unit in FEC or NH that don't have an equivalent in SBG if not straight up better in SBG.

Buuuut... in a friendly game, sure bring models that you like and have fun with them

BTW, Varghulf and black coach should defenitively be SBG unit (and mortis a NH one)

Edit : On the other hand, OSB have some units that would be really nice (crawler for exemple) but unfortunately we can't allies them

Well I'm allying in a Mourngul for a game on the weekend. Biggest issue with any of them as Kiba said is that they don't benefit from the good stuff the rest of the army is getting. Looking forward to seeing how well it fares though!

I think there are some hidden gems in the Allied section. The Cairn Wraith is a really cheap and nifty Hero that I have had quite good results with in my SBG lists. It is fast, quite sturdy and can be picked for Heroic Willpower for an extra unbinding attempt.

Edit: Scratch that, I can see that the Cairn Wraith will go up to 115 pts in the new book

If you're playing Path to Glory SBGL can take a Cursed City territory which can give an allied hero your subfaction.
