When would you actually use this monstrosity? It's 120 points, has toughness 5, 4 wounds and no save. How is this even remotely useable in a standard game? Maybe against elves that don't bring bolt throwers? Oh wait, executioners or white lions will murder it in one round, never mind.

What am I missing? Anyone have any creative uses for this mount?

honestly, with the new model which i am assuming represents it being made for manfred/neferata/arkhan, i think i would take one. However, i agree. it might be good for a low level character going warmachine hunting as it has flying.

Do we think then the new mount is a AT? Looking at it I think it is something else.

In regards to the AT itself, I have always gone for style of substance xd So for me, if I was doing a Necrarch army, yep I would have one. But as I love the Lahmian ladies more.....well they wouldn't be seen dead on such a mongrel xd

If the AT was a MC mount I'd be all over it. Especially if it was on a 40x40 base so that I could stuff him into a unit of skeletons or grave guard in a pinch. As it stands...yeah there's really no reason to take one.

I actually think making it a Monstrous Creature would solve it's problems, however I also think it would then be the go to mount since it would make our Vampire lords immune to killing blow (something very important when seeing lots of dark elves and executioners on the field these days). I am not sure if that is good or not, since Killing Blow is a valid threat and balancing factor for vampire lords.

The creature Neferata rides is refered to as a 'Nagadron the Dread Abyssal' and the one Mannfred rides is called a Nightgeist. I think the Dread Abyssal is champion grade Abyssal Terror, and a nightgeist is somewhat related to a terrorgheist or vargeist.

To paraphrase, best to die cackling on the back of a stitched together monster.

This is the best motto ever.

I periodically consider building one, because it would be awesome, but I can't figure out what to do with it (apart from dying cackling). It's certainly fluffy for Necrarchs, but I'm not sure you want your Necrarch riding around on something that wants to be in melee, because that would put your Necrarch in melee, which is where all the dying cackling happens.

Save that suddenly you're a magnet for cannons, bolt throwers, and everything else under the sun.

Still though...if the AT added +2 to your save (giving a 2+ save with standard blender loadout) it'd be pretty standard to put your blender on one with a charmed shield and go to town. Having stomp, +1W, and immunity to thunderstomps and KB would be pretty key. I'd throw him head-first into a unit of executioners no problem.

...hell, at 50% lord allowance why throw one when I could throw two ;)

Considering you are have a giant bullseye on your back when mounted on an abyssal terror as it stands today, downgrading it to a monstrous beast seems only like an upgrade to me...
