Alternate Grave Guard Models?

Was looking to see if anyone had any ideas, I would love to use Chaos warriors as GG, but it seems way to hard to get them on a reg infantry base size. Only other thought i had was men at arms, but they dont seem armoured enough. Any thoughts?

Myself personally, I love the 6th ed Grave Guard models. The new ones are cool, but the 6th ed ones look more stocky and armoured whereas the new ones look a little fragile to me. So if you are able to track them down, they would be my choice. I was lucky enough to accumlate around 20 odd of them during the 6th ed days.

personalyu im waiting till the plastic great swords come out already have 2 boxes preordered at my lgs...you can use the men at arms command group thats what i did but i did not like how they looked its not what ui wanted.

Hi Folks mentioned Grave guards i like them very much (gw 6ed gg),but i bought some chronopia unliving models for 1$ per blister (4 minis in pack) so i make them my Barrow Wights Grave guards
here they are; they will be painted like this one with scythe (it was my BS but he lost his banner in fight with chaos and hes got now only scythe

nice. the new LOTR army of the dead models could make nice grave guard, if slightly small

Nice score with the cheap figures.

They look good, especially with the added shields. My only real issue would be than they appear a little lightly armoured for Grave Guard if you apply WYSIWYG.

Still, don't really think that is going to bother too many people.

I'm curently using the Cursed Legion plastic undead romans produced by Zvezda as my Grave Guard.

They were a little small compared to the previous skeletons and grave guard but are now about right. The cost for a box of 24 (if you can find them) is normally about the same as a box of 10 of the new GW Grave Guard.

Note - the unit champion is an old pre-slotta Citadel skeleton, not one of the plastics

i have two grave guard units
my first is a bretonian men at arms unit lead by an converted nurgle champion
the second is a unit of converted dark elf spearmen (i took the monsterous spear tips and made them into swords)

both of them are in my horde of bail kor thread
obviously they are converted with zombie parts and bloody damage

i just go with whatever suits the theme of your army

Yeah Josef, I am going to use the plastic Gret Swords. Just as a matter of interest, what are you going to convert them with?

Anyway, I want to use Rackham's Black Paladins which are nigh on impossible to get hold of. So far I have the champ on 3 normal Paladins. So I will continue looking.............if anyone sees or has any they want to sell please let me know.

Who me? It's a mess. It's just lots of unpainted zombies at the minute. But when I get my digital camera working, I think I might start a paint log.

It is going to be Empire themed though.
