Ok since blood and black knights are a bit costly Ive been thinking about alternatives for my knights...

NOw ive been thinking... for black knights im wondering if i should use bretonian or empire knights... the conversion will mostly be painting making them 'ghostly'

And for blood knights Im wondering again which I should use... Empire or Bretonian knights converted into vampires.

You could allways do the 'Corrupted Empire Knightly order' approach. Basically using empire knights but paint them in dark colors. The horsies should either be converted so they look like they are dead (bones sticking out here and there) or painted as hellsteeds. The same could be done for brettonians.

I once thought about making a vampiric cavalry unit by using one knight-figure from different GW races and then painting and converting them to look vampiric. For example you could have an orc vampire, a bretonnian vampire, a kislev vampire, a dolgan vampire, a high elf vampire and so on. It would create a very exotic looking unit even though fluffwise orcs an elfs probably cant be turned vampires :)

Yudas.

For my Black Knights, I have used Bret Knights. With the extra heads (particularly the 'winged' helms) afforded from the Grave Guard sprues, and due to the fact that I modelled the Guard with great weapons I was able to use the shields, you can make Bret Knights appear very spooky indeed.

Only points to be aware of is that Bret torsos are somewhat bigger than Wight torsos. This creates the impression of Knights in massive armour with very small heads - to combat this, I used the particularly flamboyant winged helms from the Grave Guard sprue which added to the head's size. Another point to be aware of is that Bret heads have a neck that connects to the shoulder blades, while Grave Guard heads do not. You could solve this through one of two ways - you could model a column of spinal cord at the base of the skull using green stuff, or you could position the heads so that they appear to be 'floating' above the armour. Given the ethereal-ish nature connected with the Knights, this insubstantial approach actually looks okay - my opponent actually preferred the look.

Very Bedknobs and Broomsticks indeed ;)

I've used Empire Knights. Distressed the armour, painted them lacquered purple and their steeds in the same scheme as my ethereal troops (see what I did there?), job's a good 'un.

I'm considering using some headless horsemen for black knights, though I'm worried I'm not good enough with modelling or painting to achieve a dead look. It's a shame the TK horsemen's horses are unarmoured or they'd be good. I'll probably use Bretonian or Empire knights.

Blood Knights are 3rd generation vampires, they were a Knightly order of the empire before Walach corrupt them,so get the empire knightly cavalry, pain them in red, maybe you can get some dragonmarks on them...imo its better for fluff,if you care about it of corse :p
