This is the thread for the beginnings of the Angels army book.

Do you think i should do it Y/n

Suggestions welcome.

I actually voted for this in some poll a while back, a 'New army for WFB' idea/thread/thingy.

I'd love to see the opposite of Chaos hit the shelves. An Antithesis, some do gooder magically charged beasties whose only purpose is to exert right and order on the world. In the nicest way possible. Almost like Tau for Fantasy, except non-fishy people. and winged. And glowing. Haveta glow.

I know the concept will most likley never happen, but still. 'Twould be fun.

Onikaigo, what you just described was the Lizardmen army...
Antithesis of Chaos? Check.
Magically charged beasties? Check.
Try to exert right and order on the world? Check.
Nicest way possible? Eh...
Non-fishy? Check.
Winged? Sometimes.
Glowing? Yep, got that one.

Ya ya, I see where you're coming from Vekarin, but I'm thinking more Angel-y. I want wings and holy light and Paladins and...Wait, that's quite nearly Empire. Dangit.

-.- I guess it's never going to come to Fruition, because Lizards don't fit my bill of 'Righteous' smiting. They're just like, blind followers.

I shall do my best, winged stuff for the win.

Looking through Mythology for ideas,
Special Character= Eros??
Angel of Death.

Weapons: Bows, Magic, Seraph Blades(city of bones)
will need help as angels are sort of difficult to represent with rules

M WS BS S T W I A LD
10 10 10 10 10 i cant count that high 10 10 10

lvl 4 wizard knows all spells from every lore
immune to miscasts
dual hw (kb, magical, reroll hit and wounds, flaming, ignores armor saves, casus 10 d20 wounds per wound

something like that.

True that Vikarin but they aren't doing a very good job of it.

You are kidding right? 10 for every stat causing 10 D20 wounds per wound. Is this some kind of wishful thinking army, or something you actually plan to field?

If you are serious and provide usable rules I would love to help, but if you're going down route as you have done with the above I think I'll steer well clear..........

No i was just joking bout how overpowered they would be if i made them fluffy. im not that insane

OK here is an idea I got from a book i am reading, would have to change the name tho

Seraph Blades
They would work something like DH nemisis force weapon
Normal Troops - flaming attacks
Unit captains- flaming magical attacks
Heroes- flaming magical KB? attacks
Lords- Flaming magical reroll hits attacks.

What do you think? Obviously you would have to by them for Your units, they would not come standard.

Also

Electrum Whip.

Range 6" Throwing weapon (can stand and shoot) str 4 +1 to hit
in combat normal hand weapon convey +1 attack (hit lots of guys with on e flick

Birdmen.fleeforum.com will be the main site for the Angels development as it has more in depth division then what is offered on one thread here.

As we are currently developing too, I might be able to give you a few tips.

1. Set goals.
What do you want? just the rules, or also the fluff. you want models too? Art? Maybe even an entire army book?

2. Get a team.
You will likely want a team. Not only will this save you a lot of work, but it is also helpfull for feedback and testing. The drawback is that you sometimes need to compromise. Just remember that your ideas are not always the best ideas. Nobody is perfect.

3. Do research.
Look at the Warhammer World. Arer there any holes left to fill? Any areas left to explore? What is everybody interested in? Does it fit the lore?

4. Write background.
Doesn't need much explanation. Just keep it logic and make it fit with fit the other backgrounds.

5. Make rules.
base the rules on your background, but do NOT make them overpowered! This is always a hard thing to do, because this army is your darling. And you want that it can beat everybody else. This however, is not what a player wants or needs.

6. Have Fun.
Of course

Global speaking these are your guidelines. 'Also, should I do it?' is not a good question. It will be a time consuming project, so you must be really motivated for it, else it would be a waste of time.

I am interested in your progress. :)

I don't see the interest in creating an "Angels" army fighting for order and being the oppisite of chaos, because in all honesty you already have elements of order forces in the sense of greater powers through the likes of Sigmar.

I found a while ago 2 websites with angel armies for warhammer, that are now long dead, so I have these two Angel Armies ready to look at. Maybe you could use some of the ideas from these armies in makeing an angel army.

I had already been working on a similar concept, creatures of magic, focusing entirely on magic-based good-oriented creatures which could fill in a lot of holes in the current fantasy line...

As you can tell, I haven't gotten very far, I wanted to focus on Core units, giving them a very magical feeling while also having a reasonable rank-and file element which I feel is important for the balance of the game. Halflings are in fact very magical creatures, and while I haven't given them much in terms of their magical properties (rules), I felt that it was important to make them very stalwart, dependable, yet ultimately meagre combat troops.

I am very interested in comments, critique or ideas!

PS: first post.

Perhaps, to fulfill Arions point of the 'Morally Grey' viewpoint, these angels could be vicious zealots? Perhaps they are indeed bent on the persecution of Chaos, and find more Morally Upstanding people and allies among the sentient races of Man, Dwarves, and Elves, and may even have an inbuilt prepensity to ally with those nations.

But, how about if that trust is easily broken, or if they simply live by the code of Saito Hajime (An anime character) which is 'Ack Suku Zan', (Forgive me if I got the spelling wrong, It's been a while. It's correct phonetically, though!) 'Destroy evil imediately'.

such as, Allied with the race of Man/Dwarf/Elves, and at the first sign of unrepentant corruption, they're destroyed. Perhaps in such a spectacular fashion that it cannot be denied, and throwing their blatant disregard for human/sentient life into the mix that their moral boundaries are blurred.

My two cents, as a guideline against making them the 'Goody Two Shoes', but perhaps a race of super aggressive purists.

Perhaps I wasn't exactly clear. I didn't mean to suggest that these are all 'good guys', but rather that they are mythical creatures that have all been historically good-aligned as opposed to the unending darkness within the unbeating heart of the walking dead.

They aren't peace-loving or meek by any means... but rather their goal is a harmony between mundane and magical, a desire to see needless wars end.. and they are willing and ready to knock some heads in to make that happen.

As far as fanatical purists... I had been considering developing an army list based around the puritans of the 19th century east-coast america. Witch Hunters in a very pure sense... probably similar in flavour to the sister's of Battle//Inquisitorum of WH40K.
