There will be a rust tutorial later on that I will use with my Grave Guard and other models with rusted armour/weapons and I may even use a similar technique on the robes/bones themselves . If I start explaining now there isn't much chance of a brief explanation, will be better to take in progress shots so you can see the different stages. I did use some pigments and oil paints washed down with lighter fluid ! You are just going to have to stay tuned, but I will assure you there will be one
Haha that is okay, their bases are quite good but to base 500 models or so can get expensive !!!! The only spooky base I have is the one that the varghulf is perched upon.
I was laying in bed again last night after that post wondering what base I will start from with the Black Knight horse robes, grave guard ones as well as one for the banshees + cairn wraiths. I might take a gamble and go something non-traditional, just hope it pays off !
As for the Wight King, it really is a fantastic model and I thoroughly recommend it!
Haha well not so much need, but think it is the best course of action, yes. Having them snap off the base or fall off because of the lack of contact area would do my head in. Better safe than sorry ! As for envying me, that is quite the exaggeration I am sure!
As I love your work too sir. I need to look at those lists you make as my army progresses. My friends are only starting off with 1k pts and increasing from there as they learn the game. I really want to use my Tgheist !!!

I will make a 1000pt army, then a 1500pt, and paint it up as I go. That way I can game with painted models at the same time

As for the CC - You can separate the corpse pile and it does fit back in with a bit of wiggling. The removable necro should solve a lot of the problems though. The basing will be increased as this will not effect game play at all if it is a unit filler, and there isn't an issue when you increase the size as per the rules. I will be using a resin base for it I believe, but I will see how that pans out in the end.
$275 !!! :| That is over 1/3rd of what I have paid for my whole army to date
I do believe that painting the grave guard is up the top of my list of things to paint first

The CC comes on a 50mm X 100mm base though, so it won't fit too well with the 20mm Zombies; And I think down-sizing the base might be too tight, but you could maybe give it a 60mm x 100mm base? I'd be a bit wider, but if it's got a bit of flair/scenic fluffing it'd fit fairly nicely. Might confuse people when they see it first though. Not to mention I seriously can't think of a VC army list that doesn't include at least one CC :ghost: Those things are so damned useful.
Also, unit fillers are best-est. I'm working on a 6x 40mm unit filler for a horde of Crypt Horrors I plan on running at some point. Mostly because paying nearly 275$ for a single unit, and limiting their poses sounds very unappealing to me. But I just love the flavor they add to units, and if you haven't seen Bigcannon's army his units have quite a bit of 'Open space' that I think looks rather well. It doesn't take away from the units, and I think the slightly less congested units look a bit better, gives you less to focus on for spotting hard work and unique touches, ya know?
Now stop building things and paint them :grave:

As for removing them from their bases goes a razor saw is probably your best bet.
Anything thicker than that and you're probably going to damage the feet.
I used a razor saw for separating some skinks from their tabs, and even then I lost a little of the feet off the odd one or two.

at 1 and a half slaves per, I think you can find a way to field 310 zombies..
I sure as hell would field only zombies (Maybe a few puppies) if I could.
Not to mention reserving some for invocation fodder, in case you go over starting size.

I also just ordered a single bag of those, although I may end up getting more if I use them too quickly Along with that blasted Embossed Styrene I have been trying to find anywhere beside Britain (Turns out, only British people sell it.. somehow). In other news, I just found out I spell 'Britian' wrong like I always used to spell 'Mountian' wrong.
Also, he makes the Mantic zombies look far less awful, for the first time ever to me. Although that is just one, and on a delicious resin base. I'm sure once there is a full unit I'll hate them again.

I've got that headstone set, and I was very happy with them. Size and sculpt are all great. The only thing is that some of the stones are only textured on the front, but some quick weathering to the back and they're ready for the ball.

Zombie Apocalypse ! :zombie: I think that will be a long term project though
Scroll down below, I took some updated photos as I needed to re-arrange it to make room for my Vampires !
The army is a standard size at the top but fuses with the Mek bits just above the elbow. I will try and paint it in such a way that the Bionik bitz don't appear too frail. Thanks for paying that much attention to it though

Indeed. I will try to get them all done as soon as possible.
Hmm you may be closer to the truth than you realise. I first collected Orks before living in Taiwan on exchange for 2 years, I had just completed building them before I left so they just sat there.
I had been working on them a fair bit before this semester started up again. Unfortunately up to this point I have been immersed in my Chinese business translation and 3rd Year Chinese courses. Trying to make a bit more balance with my life instead of just studying hardcore, so I decided to pick up a fantasy army that I could paint as well.
So that brings me to where I am now, still assembling, however instead of assembling an army in one go, I will clean, assemble, prep, paint and base them as I go. I swear I have painted under 30 models easily - ever.
That is seriously about the change though
During the next few days it will see a lot of use !

Thanks for your reply. My work will be on display when it is and not too far away as previously stated in other posts. If I have come across as a braggart, that was not my intention or meaning at all and I apologise if it was conveyed in such a manner.
As for this being a 'painting' progression blog, you are correct and it its current form, this blog is not. That is not to say that it won't be and soon.
Due to the Rhino being a commission job for $70 for both of them, inclusive of the model cost the time I would have liked to have spent more time on it. However that simply would have gotten out of hand. So in that way I was some restricted on going too overboard while learning new techniques. This resulted in the first time I have painted a model and handed it over at not 100%.
The Wood Elf was painted back in 2008 I believe, was painted in 24hours and was for a last minute competition entry. Unfortunately that photo is the only one I have.

Thanks for your support. The Rhino was pretty good but it lacked a lot of things that would have pulled it together so much more. That is the outcome of learning new techniques for the first time. The majority of the hull highlights were obscured by the weathering to the point where to model looks quite flat and a touch incomplete.

This model was the only one I really took photos of as I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. It was my first attempt at green stuff.
The lighting is terrible, so a lot of the highlights/shades have been lost. For a better indication of the highlighting/shadows of the whole model, the teal waistband cloth should provide an example.
Jetbike Autarch for my Seer Council on bikes. I really disliked the Eldar jetbike models, and there were no models in the range for a Seer Council. I still have most of the council in pieces and may make some up again if the mood strikes me.
