I've had a brief look at a few pages here, but cant see any painting guides, my skeles look absolutly....rubbish

Dry brush bleached bone
flesh wash
dry brush bleached bone

And they look AWEFULL!!!

Its embarrassing...

Also i cant think of any shield/banner colors? At the moment i have just purple on banners and nothing on armor/shields (the armor is just black with any outline in silver)

I'm not really a terribly bad painter...if i could find my digicam i'll post my vampire which, personally isnt to bad i think...but i cant get skeletons right :(

Instead of drybrushing bleached bone the first time, you can just kinda slop paint on there (make sure not to obscure details) then wash/ink, THEN drybrush bleach bone and highlight with skull white.

Should look okay, but I haven't tried it myself.

My current strategy is:

Devlan mud (I used this as my basecoat on all things)
Bleached Bone
Skull white
wash with Badab Black
Highlight (very lightly) with Skull White

We had a tale of four gamers going on some time ago, in which The Dark Lord Mr Fluffy participated and he was painting a VC force. In his month one, he put up a painting guide to how he did is skellies, and its still around.

As his skellies looked great I think you could give it a shot. ;)

My bone is really simple and looks pretty good. I just go,

Basecoat Bestial Brown
Heavy drybrush Bleached bone
Light drybrush Skull white.

It looks pretty nice if you want clean looking bone.

Just found a way that makes me happy, its rubbish but:
Undercoat skull white
Coat it all bleeched bone, but drybrush the ribacge
coat it all in Bedab Black wash

It fills the gaps and looks sorta dirty lookin'
I'm not going to win any prizes but to for speed painting i dont mind them :) I'll put some pictures up when i get my camera sorted

I'll post some pics up soon, but i think i've perfected the 'dirty northern skeleton' look.

Simply:

Black undercoat
Complete coat of Khemri Brown
Liberal Drybrush of Bleached Bone
Drench in Gryphonne Sepia.

for a darker look, replace sepia with devlan mud.

I do mine exactly the same as torealis, with a light brush of Scorched brown at the end to make them look that little bit more grimy. It's quick to paint and looks pretty good.

My current technique is very simple. Base them white, paint devlan mud ink over them, job done. Looks better than the simplistic style suggests. You may want to drybrush another light colour over the top but I like mine as they are. :)
