Hi All

I had an army theme idea I thought I'd share: a plantation era theme.

Core
Zombies - dead slaves and colonists brought back by Voudou
Ghouls - wreched folk from backwater bayous

Special
Spirit Hosts - ghosts in the mists, easy to justify
Black Knights - reanimated Conquistadores - empire cav models?

Rare
Wraiths with Banshee - more ghosts
Black Coach - the vestiges of some rich plantation owner's family

Characters
Necromancer or summony-type Vampire - Voudou priest(ess)
Mounted Vampire - ghoul on a croc conversion.
combat Vampire - ill-tempered plantation owner who duelled a lot and undertook dark practices to hold onto youth and power.

I think the army would be playable, even competetive, and could look quite cool.

If you're doing your own terrain, swamps are a gimme.

Just thought I'd share. If anyone wants to do this up, I'd love to see pics (as I'm sure we all would)

And no, I wasn't thinking about Interview with a Vampire when I came up with this, I was too busy dodging traffic on my bike.

Thoughts?

A Bayou theme will be easier to protray than a plantation theme, but you've got enough ideas in there to make it interesting no matter which way you go.

A swamp-themed army could be very cool. The only corpse cart I have now was modified for my original them of pirates. I took the wheels off and built a flat-bottom boat for the cart. That same thing would work great for a bayou skiff. You could do that for the Black Coach, too.

I like the ideas of gators for Dire Wolves.

My (TK) Barrow King army was Albion/swamp based and very snake themed. The Tomb Scorpion was a giant snake made using the head of a cold one, the body of the chaos boob-snake, and the tail of a green dragon. (All when you could bitz order from GW.) It's a little clunky, but it shows that you can make a giant snake monster from GW parts. (If you care about such things.)

A Voodoo summoning Vamp would fit this army perfectly, and the TK Carrion would fit well, too.

For flavor, add in a few of the Citadel trees for unit fillers. You could make those up to be pretty creepy without much effort, I think.

Its very similar to my army. They are based around a tribe in the Southlands, and as such are heavily swamp/africana themed.

Corpse Cart is a floating raft (made from the platform that is supposed to sit atop the stegadon) with skink corpses manning it, and a priest from the degenerate tribe.

Ghouls are degenerate tribesmen.

Vampires are the anscestors of the tribesmen's shaman, turned long ago. Lots of clay pots, feathers, painted skull masks, fetishistic items.

Fell Bats are Giant bloodsucking jungle bats, pretty simple.

Blood Knights are more of my vampires, in leopard form (using some ooolldd citadel miniature lioness models, originally from the WE range) that stalk the jungle hunting their enemies etc.

Apart from the ghouls, zombies feature alot, the sacrificial victims of the tribe, and there are lots of lizardmen, skaven and RoR figures for the dead, as these are the main enemies of the tribe, being in the Southlands.

Spirit hosts are spirits summoned by the tribe's vampires and priests.

I even have the trees described above as unit fillers!

Your idea seems very similar, except from Lustria rather than the Southlands, so more of an America feel. Gators as Dire Wolves is something I hadn't considered and which would look very cool, I say go for it. Same deal with the TK carrion.
