army transports

okay so im planning on getting a new army transport to protect my army and im not sure what will be a good one for WFHB if i was doing 40k i would get another army transport and be cool with it, i used to use a large container with some anti slide stuff on the bottom of it, but im thinking it is time for an upgrade but im not sure what i should get, suggestions post pics and or links

Magnetize your models.

I buy this type of magnet. These are strong enough that a single one can hold a model on a 25mm base easily.Then I buy these sheets, and attach them to some thin MDF.

Then I buy several of these and some of this non-slip rubber matting. I cut the rubber matting to size and lay it in the bottom of the plastic tubs, then I can place the MDF with attached rubber sheeting on top and it won't side around. This also means I can take the MDF out and put vehicles in the tubs, since they don't really need to be magnetised.

Then I can stack as many trays as I want on top of each other, none of my models get dusty from sitting on shelves, none of my models get excessively handled (which protects the paintjob) none of them get squished into little foam pockets over and over again (protecting the paint) and instead of taking 20 minutes at the start of each game, and 20 minutes at the end, setting up and packing away your models is a breeze that takes no time at all.

The downside is that I wouldn't consider this kind of packing safe for sending models overseas, or in a moving truck so you'll want to think about that. But for sitting on the back seat while I'm driving around, and for day to day storage in the house, this is the best solution. And it's cheap! I have about 13,000 points worth of models stored like this, and it's probably cost me about ~$200 for all the trays, magnets, containers and rubber sheeting. And that fits four large armies, including vehicles, monsters, flyers, chariots, etc. You name it, you can fit it.

your using the same setup i am and im not too happy with it personally i always loved these but i dont see them being a good option when used for fantasy so im not wanting to go about buying some and then just getting annoyed with them.

i dont like having a bunch of bulky stuff laying around be it for gaming or for storage, my display board is bad enough lol, like i said i always loved the sabol transports but i dont see them working well for WHFB because i like the idea of keeping all my stuff ranked up and easy to take outa the transport. ill probably end up fingering out a way to redo the transport i have in some way or get new containers to use but was really hoping to find a different way.

Here is what I do: my models are magnetized to their movement trays, the movement trays are magnetized to the bottom of a box. I use comic book boxes, but the boxes that printer paper comes in would work really well too.

Ah. See, I've got a lot of stuff. Two armies for WHFB, three for 40K, one for Warmachine, a CoA fleet for Dystopian wars, a shitload of Romans and Barbarians for ancients gaming, enough LotR models to do a 1-for-1 recreation of the Pelennor fields, two BFG fleets, a handful of Mordheim warbands, not to mention projects simply for the sake of modelling. As a result, any transport system I have has to double as a storage system, since packing and unpacking models into and out of the transport is so time consuming and it doubles (or more) the amount your models are handled, which in turn increases the rate the paint wears and the rate that pointy bits break off. So having a dozen or so plastic tubs that I can stack on top of one another and pull out to put in the back seat of my car is an infinitely better option for me than a foam figure case. I even have one of the Sabol cases, the old Battalion pack, and I didn't like it much. The trays are hard to fit lots of figures in, you have to handle each figure individually every time you play, and if I wanted to take my Bretonnians one night and my Empire the next night I had to completely re-stack my case.

But if you only had one or two armies, I can see how something like the Sabol cases might be a good option

So what I did was same with everyone one else magnetized minis it just makes life that much easier but I bought these tubs from walmart. They are about 3 feet long 10 inches in height and about foot and a half wide. I bought some cheap yoga mat and fit it to the bottom of the containers.. with that i can place all my units side by side in the box with no movement and so far that has worked well. the only thing that sucks is very large units ( mortis engine) or single units (banshee and wraiths and stuff) but hey its a good fix for long term until maybe someday i buy a super carrying case like my friend.

I basically did the same thing as the stack-away plan. Although I did magnetize my entire army, I found it very difficult to magnetize the cases. I know that the guy who made those cut out the bottoms, but it seems very unstable. Instead, I got 1/2" foam from Home depot and then cut out sections to fit my units' movement trays and that has worked out really well and save a lot of money. The second Issue that ran into was that Undead armies tend to have many more models than just about anyone else and I ran out of room. So I divided one case into sections that has zombies in blocks of ten, skellies in blocks of 5 and direwolves that are loose.
