Basing my models

I'm not quite sure how to base my models, as I have a plan for battle debris such as broken bits of sword and arrrows and wotnot, but I am unsure on the actual base for the model. How do you guys think burnt grass with snow would look? Too strange? Please feel free to suggest any ideas.

I am pretty sure you could do snow if you wanted, I use a extra fine grit sand, and maybe a pebble with some blood spatter on it, use some brown wash on the sand and a matchstick blown out over it to give it flavor.

it really depends on army composition, bloodline and such.

as long as you still have some dirt showing it shouldn't be a problem, the burnt grass might clash with the snow if there isn't any dirt/mud there. the match stick idea seems pretty cool as well... im gonna have to try that

I used burnt grass and snow on mine. Looks fine I think, although with hindsight I think I'd leave the snow off next time.

I also used some beech seed leaves from antenocitis workshop.

To make the ground I use normal sharp sand (builders sand) washed. PVA glued to base. Nice uneven texture, loads of little stones etc. and dead cheap.

Ill say put some broken stuff half buried on the snow and bloody foot steps also.
That kinda looks like in the middle of the battle.

Thanks for the bloody footsteps idea, i'll be sure to use that. I think i'll put some rocks on the bases too, with snow on top and the edges exposed. I've always loved basing so this should be great fun.
