Hey guys!

I played a couple of games with a Master Necromancer as my general and I'm having a hard time with "death snipe".

I usuly play against 2 or 3 wizards with Death and you probably guest it... 3 Spirits leech :(

Beside a dispel scroll, a 4+ ward save and been lucky with the dispel dice or the dice roll for the spell itself... anyone has a better idea?

I lost my general in the last two games. Of course I had a Necromancer to take the general job after but losing my level 4 (and Vanhel's) reallllllllly hurts :'(

Note: If there is already a thread existing, please tell me the link please and delete this thread. I tried to search such thread on the forum but all my search came out too many threads .

Thanks!

Naggie.

Does MR ward spirit leach wounds? I can't remember if they're No Saves allowed.

Can't believe I didn't think of that!!

It's no armour save only!

My MN is usuly with a WK BSB so I think I will put the The Obsidian Amulet on the WK. with my 4++ on a MS, this mean he wil have a 2++ against Deathsnipe (and some miscast result)!

Thanks for the suggestion Adam!

Keep your MN more than 24" away. And of course MR.

With the 12" range of Vanhel's and Invocation (I never do the 18" bubble) I found it nearly impossible to keep it 24" away from the other mages if I want to support my troops. But I play mostly against Chaos and his are DP or within chaos warriors regiments so its doesn't help ;)

of course now he will death snipe the King and then the MN if he's smart but that can be fixed too if you have the points.

yes sir it is! You bring up a good point! Doom and Darkness his generals unit, then he doesn't get that LD bonus.

Edit: Whoop, sorry Geordie, that seems like a million points to try and make a character survivable. People don't put this kind of effort into making sure the VL will live!

You could just go the rules route and put a 6 man unit of CH's in front of the bunker and block line of sight! If they can't see the necro then they can't hurt the necro.

MR doesn't stack on top of your ward save when trying to save miscast wounds.

MR doesn't stack on MR, meaning the lichbone pendant (MR1) plus obsidian amulet (MR2) doesn't mean MR3. As stated ward saves do stack in MR, but only the highest MR.

I like giving The Lord the 4+ ward, then a hero MR2 plus the scroll if shielding. This way The Lord has a 2+ vs death snipes, and the hero has a 5+, or a 2+ when you pop the scroll vs one spell.

Of course if you're running double MN, do the same only with MR3 since u have more magic item allowance.

If I remember correctly, the spell shield + talisman of endurance = 50points. That would give a 5+ ward normally or 3/4+ ward vs magic (can't remember if the spell shield is MR1/2) for the Wight King and a 2/3+ vs magic for the MN. I'm planning something similar for my blood knights (blood keep banner + vamp with MR2). Go on, try to searing doom/banish my knights, I dare you...

Flank those damn wizards!

VL on a Black Knight bus will get you into combat in no time (no Spirit Leech there).

When their units turn about to face you, they can be flanked by your main stuff (I agree, they don't move that fast, but Hexwraiths do, and so do Vargheists)

If the Wizards are not in units (and they should) blast them with Gaze of Nagash! Wizards are weak, no AS and low T. Or.. scream at them. No character should be outside a unit with Terrorgheists lurking about on the table. Ever.

Master Necromancer can always go inside a skellie bunker with MR1, 3++ is a nice save against Spirit Leech

THe scroll of sheilding doesn't actually give you MR. It just states that target unit gains a 4+ ward vs that spell. So NR would stack with the Scroll of Sheilding but it will not stack with other ward saves.

MR says "has a bonus to its ward saves when saving against damage caused by spells"

A Miscast is not a spell (although it counts as magical damage).
