Black Knights question

I'm new to VC and am looking to field some BK's with my Vamp lord. I noticed that doing that will cost the BK's their ethereal special rule. Is there a way to make the vamp able to join the group while keeping this rule? I was going to buy the barding for the 2+ save for them.

Three things
1. It is ethereal movement not pure ethereal (dont we wish though )
2. It is well worth the cost as we supercharges the unit.
3. Barding is well worth it

OK, what I should have included was will the BK lose the 1 to movement for the barding.

Hello,

Doesn't the ethereal entry in the BRB say that for the purposes of movement ethereal creatures cannot be slowed by items? i realize that BK are not true ethereal creatures but because they move like them shouldn't they benefit from this part of the rule?

If you are referring to Black Knights without characters, then yes you are right, although you don't have to go as far as the BRB to confirm this (see Page Page 51 of the Vampire Counts book).

Black Knights lose their ethereal movement if joined by a character without the Spectral Steeds or Ethereal special rules. (again, see Page 51 of the Vampire Counts book )

So what was stated above is correct because when the unit loses it's Spectral Steeds rule, they are effected by barding again, not that it matters because the Vamp is on a Barded Nightmare making them Movement 7 anyway.

Spectral Steeds's rule is the one granting the Ethereal movement.

It also says when anyone without this rule joins a Unit with it, then the rule is temporarily lost, I'm afraid =(

I see quite a lot of banner of swiftness in BK buses, and that is actually a quite nice banner for the units unless you decide to go the "fear-bomb" route. Gives you the protection AND the speed you want. Doesnt cost you a lot of points either.

Hmm reading the VC and BRB entry it doesnt seem to be that barding should slow down skeletal steeds unless there's a barded nightmare in the unit
