I was just thinking that seeing as the Black Knights are mounted buffed up versions of the grave guard. Why not have a similar idea with the blood knights.

Not sure what their stats would look like but I think it's a pretty interesting idea.

*looks at previous posts*

When did I say we needed it?

Also if you look at the pluses... a unit that moves faster than the average elf, and has a champion with a magic weapon could be very useful in an army that has an infantry that can move a whole 4.

I'm just saying it would be cool. Not that we need it. Just like it would be cool to have an inexplicably tall Great Necromancer.

Yesyes, it would be cool and all, but it would have to be a Rare choice. And we have already got a lot of those. My problem with Vampire Infantry is that it is close to saying that there are vampires all over the place. Besides KotBK are knights. Knights ride om horses. Of Course, in the previous book, you could easily have you Blood Dragon Vampire on foot, but as I imagine it, when a Knightly Order goes to war, it's on a horse.

Heh, a 16 foot tall necromancer makes perfect sense :p

You're right of course. Plus running in plate mail is probably not the most fun thing to do in the world. I'm sure though that the Blood Keep would have had Men-At-Arms but that roll was most likely filled by Grave Guards.

Look at the old Blood Dragons...did they all fight on Horseback? I think not.
I think an elite unit of infantry Vampires would be really cool. It would also slightly enlarge the range of the unit's March Allowance.

How many Blood dragons do you see running around on foot? 1, 2?
Vampires are rare beings. They don't have regiments and regiments of them. Men at arms are turned into skeletons and Elite warriors are turned into grave guards. Only the best knights/fighters are turned into vampires thus Blood Keeps (Probably grail knights). Although I am in the process of converting my Dragon Princes into Blood Knights. ^_^

I can see the Blood Knights, I can see a Blood Dragon fighting on foot to support his troops or to test himself in combat. I just can't see a regiment of on foot vampires, it just wouldn't look right

Why not. The greatswords from riekland for example are basically rieksguard on foot, why don't you see the blood knights having some greatswords for example. And i'm guessing that at the siege of blood keep that the blood knights didn't bring their horses on the wall when fighting.

Yeah... or just maybe instead of that give the blood knights the option to be mounted or on foot. Instead of creating a whole new unit just modify the existing one.

If we did that then you may as well rename Vampire Counts...Chaos.

Interesting idea but IMO it would screw the VC fluff.

The Dark Sheep said:
What about a 0-10 unit of skirmishers? It wold be a great support unit that could go wizard, warmachine and (might even) monster hunting. If that unit existed it would've went straight into my army list as a "fluff unit".

But expensive hunting unit, eh?

Meh Vampires in a regiment is as unlikely as Mannfred the young and Mannfred the old meeting each other in the same time.

The faintest idea of adding them ruins pretty much all Undead. Because Vamps are more or less the opposite of what Undead really is, thus making them strong in VC list.
