Hey there,

I've recently got really addicted to the Bloodbowl PC game. I'm really enjoying it and I'm contemplating getting the board game (my fiancee loves it too, and we're slowly working on her Dad!). However, I'm noticing an issue with my version of the game bought from Steam (for an outstanding price during their summer sale). In games played against the computer, sometimes when it comes to the computers turn, the Computer will not do anything and just waste an entire turn. It happens more in one off games than in the tournament modes, but I'm curious if anyone else has noticed a similar thing.

I don't mind too much, particularly if I've made a mistake in my previous turn, however it can get rather annoying at times!

Cheers,

u_m

I noticed the same thing, it helped when I was trying to learn the ropes, but kind of takes the fun out from winning after a while.

I've had this happen. I also have a steam version, although I don't recall experiencing this until fairly recently.

I never know whethr to just play through or quit and start the match over.

It has happened to me a couple of times as well. Once, it happened 3-4 turns in a row, before the computer suddenly got his act together again. I also have it from Steam.

Hey folks,

I've been doing a little digging and it appears to be a known problem. The Steam forum can be a great place sometimes! Those of you that haven't experienced it the AI not playing, do you ever use a wizard?
Apparently it's called 'The Wizard Bug' and it's a glitch that doesn't signal to the computer its turn to play during the wizard events.

Jim: Fascinating hey, Bob?
Bob: Sure is Jim!

Now apparently there is a way to fix it but I haven't yet tried it myself. I'm not that brave to mess around with game files.

Link to the Steam topic

For those of you that are brave enough, below is apparently how you solve it, but as you've already guessed, I'm no expert. If you do bugfix yourself and your 'Bloodbowl' becomes the 'My Little Pony Hopscotch Tournament' please don't blame me.

This is a known problem with the game as of the latest patch. In essence, the AI is never signalled that you've made a decision about the wizard use, and so their entire turn times out waiting for you to make a decision you've already made.

You can hackfix the issue (which is to say deal with it until they figure out how to fix it) by altering Match.xml which you'll find in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\bood bowl legendary edition\Data\Match

Assuming you don't have a nonstandard setup. Open the XML file and find:

<WizardOpponentTurnDuration>15000</WizardOpponentTurnDuration>

Then replace it with:

<WizardOpponentTurnDuration>15</WizardOpponentTurnDuration>

If you do that, you should be able to play your matches relatively normally until Cyanide gets around to fixing the bug, though every time they post a patch WITHOUT fixing it, you'll have to go in and fix the file this same way.

Hope this helps everyone,

u_m

[mod]EDIT: My fiancee has just reminded me that if you're fixing the glitch yourself, make sure you open the .xml file in Notepad so you can edit it![/mod]

My fiancee, the little computer whizz that she is, has managed to fix the glitch using the method above. From what I can make out it's relatively straight forward. The AI seems to play and I've not experienced any skipping ponies yet!

Thanks a lot u_m, I'll try that out too later and report the results. I eventually stopped playing because of the glitch.

Winning is fun, put there's no point in it when the opponent suffers 2 turnovers per half because of this.
