Cheers Boo, i was thinking of using the Empire Flagellants myself. What with their fireyness and flails and that tis all rarther good. Just needed a way to paint them.

Thanks for the replies.

I also thought about using flagellants. But then I thought that I wanted something that looked more like detachments and I opted for handgunners instead. While the enemy advances they fire their ghostly handguns, but what the hell, they arent killing anybody. Just like the living ones.

Anyway, heres the completed three bases.

I know that this is really really shitty pic, but thats the best one I had at the moment. I may take a new one later on.
Next up is a banshee, or maybe a vampire? Who knows?

How much are the big bases? Do you think i can stick four to one base and just cover the joins in static grass?

Sorry for being away from the forum, but I have been busy with many many things. Amongst those some black knights.

You could always try cristov, Im not sure how the result would turn out thou. But let me know how it did.

You used to be able to get 40x40mm bases in a bag at a very decent price, but that's all up in the air now due to the mail order overhaul. The web store sells a "square base set" with five of them in it, though.

Boo, nice spirits. I've always been fond of spirit hosts made from Empire troops. One thing, though... if it were me, I'd go back and drill out the ends of the gun barrels. It only takes a few minutes and it makes such a difference to the end result.

Ooh, nice idea. I never thought of that! I will try it out on some guns that are not used on any models first.

I actually bought that big bag of 40x40 bases with about 20 something bases in it. I have used the bases for other things, like terradon bases and such. It was so worth it!

A small update, but not that its an important one.
I finished this vamp some time ago and I thought that I would post him here to keep me going. I have not come around to take pics of the other finished units yet. But those will come in time. Thank you all for reading and looking at this thread.

I know he is not riding one of the fine steeds of the empire, but the reason for his bretton horse is purely fluffish. So what do you think of him?

Your work is great! Some Pics of them in action would be nice to see. I've been meaning to get my empire army converted to undead for months but other things have got in the way. I had some ideas like yourself but I'm thinking to paint them up in Stirland colours. Keep up the good work mate.

Fantastic paint job, you've done really well, I like the way you've painted the handgunners, I'm still racking my brains for a paint scheme for my Wraiths.

Oh and I'm going to have to join the club - that tray idea is great!

I also made a mounted vamp, but Im not really sure I like him, I might remake him into a Whight Lord/king, whatever. What do you guys think?

Looks good, I like the armor and shields.
The green feathers(and only the feathers, not the laurel wreath etc.) look a bit odd in my opinion, though.
Maybe red would suite your Knights better ?

I dont know about that, you see I think the green give them a kind of sinister look that I quite like, but on the other hand, Im not sure how the red would look, simply because I havent tried it yet.

But on the other subject, what about the mounted vamp, should I redo him with a sword and change his head to that of a wight lord/king? (not sure what the new name is, havent got the new book yet ) What do you guys think.

I would change the head/weapon, in my opinion the model is nice for both characters, for a vampire you could use one of the new heads in the corpse cart sprue(as soon as you see it you'll now which one I mean ), for a whight king any skull ist suitable, plus there are a lot of nice weapon arms with swords, axes etc.

Im not sure how the red would look, simply because I havent tried it yet.

hehe, Karez, you have made it difficult for me. I have to get a third opinion on this one, the red made them look more unified, if you know what I mean, but on the other hand, it could be a tad too much red.

What I could do is to make some of the feathers red, like the champ and the SB. what do you think of that?

I agree that the red is a bit to much, but green just isn't the right color. Right now they look like they are growing some vegetables on their heads, and I am sure it is handy for that late midnight snack, but it just doesn't suit the undead...

Hehehe, I dont really agree with you. They are decomposing so why wouldnt a hungry vamp grow his/her food on his/her trusty wights? They are the long lost knights of the carrot order.

No, but seriousely. I dont agree with you, I quite like the green, but if I would repaint it in a another color, what would it be? Black?

Go ahead. Glad to be able to inspire and help. Im in the process of making zombies at the moment, but Im not done yet. But after the zombies are done, I have a major problem.

Grave Guard. I dont have any ideas on what models to use for them. I would love to convert them, like the rest of the army, but I dont know from what that would be. Any ideas?

Thank you von krug. I took a group picture today, just lined up all my completed troops so far. Im not happy with the quality of the picture, but this is what Ive got so far.

Back: Spirit hosts. Skeleton swordsmen, skeleton halberdiers, black knights(of the carrot order.)
Front, vampire Claudius Choiseul, Necromancer and wight king.

Ill try to get a better picture some day.
