Ok, going to answer all of you, and I'm not going to "quote" what you wrote...post will be too long, and long posts are reserved for photo-laden posts! Here we go;

I know I've said this before, but they really aren't as "flat" as they appear in the photos. I don't know if them being in the photo enclosure would give them the more "even lighting" that they require to show their depth (as limited as it may be) or if that's a waste of time. I *am*, however, VERY concerned about darkening them up TOO much; I want them to look as close to "Powder" (ever seen that movie? If not.... DON'T) as possible, but without looking like they're wearing white makeup. I want them to have the undertones of blood & muscle, just covered with an almost paper-thin skin membrane. If I do go with another wash, I don't know if I could stomach Ogryn Flesh... it just looks like it would TOTALLY darken the model beyond the level I'd wish it to go. Maybe I'll bite the bullet & do my Ghast with it; that way if he looks different at least it's a command model & I could explain it away... yeah, I think that's what I'll do!

Yes, the straps will be painted with my "this paint is for all straps and cords in my WHFB models" paint, also known as really really cheap dollar store "tan" paint that cost me $2 for a 500mL bottle of it.
I really like how it looks when it's been painted on and washed with either gryphon sepia or devlin mud wash (devlin mud is what my necromancer has on this paint that hold the skulls to his staff).
And I completely agree about the arms. I don't know what I did (these ghouls were assembled very shortly after they were released initially) and some of them are seamless, and others LOOK like models (which I hate). However, since I used GW Plastic glue on them, there is NO WAY I can get them apart to set them correctly. Luckily, I've got about half of the 20 that are assembled right now that have very obvious seams in them; they'll simply be back-rank in the units that the other 60 models will help build up.

Eyes & teeth; check! I was actually thinking of using Iyanden Darksun for the teeth AND eyes, and the TX27 "blood" paint in most of their mouths. However I seem to remember the darksun being a touch more "yellow" and less "brown". Again, I'll likely use it on my ghast and use that as an excuse if he's different because I don't like the results. I'll also try throwing on some brighter highlights into the hair to see what it does for the model. Thanks for the words of encouragement!

I actually DID paint over the hair (which I originally started with goblin green and tried to dull it down with Devlin Mud) with a mixture of "Tanned Leather" and "Muddy Brown". Then I washed them with the Thraka Green to get the result you see above. I actually think that the combination of this (brown w/green wash) PLUS some nice highlights might make it work a bit better... but I'm not sure how you mean about the wash around the hair as well...
And yes, I completely agree that I should finish a model (base and all) before making any giant leaps or assumptions. I may have to borrow your TX27 as Comex is STILL out of stock (said they'd get more this past week, LIARS!!!) and I DO ever so want my ghouls to be awash in a crimson arterial spray!
