This thread is a collection of awesomeness! I love your strong contrasts between light and shadow, they make the models really striking. Together with the excellent blending, great color choices and very nice NMM of course Manfred's sword is beautiful.

Thanks for the reply Brovatar. Well in case of the metallics you're pretty much doing the same as I do, might be the practice or the pictures then that made me think it's something else. As for the sword, I'm mostly interested in the colours and some of the mixing ratios as I'm familiar with the system of NMM which in general should apply to your colored version as well. Sorry that I'm pushy because I don't want to wait for the in-depth tutorial . As far as I can tell you're going from Dark Angels Green or something similar up to a bright yellow... anything in between or on top of that? Maybe white for the final glimmers or is that too bright?

Chaos black- DarkAngel Green- Moot Green(scorpion green)- Flesh Gitz Yellow- Skull white. An there you have it ^^.

Scorpion Green it is! I was using Goblin Green which I always found too matte to really serve for magical glowing stuff. Other than that pretty much what I do. Thanks a lot for the reply Brovatar, I hope you don't mind me being a little pushy. I'll post up some pics of my experiments to improve my army concept soonish.

How do you feel about painting the cloak? I've personally never really done that sorta 'Ivory/Creme' colour on cloths, but from what I hear it's rather difficult; Do you feel that is a challenge? Or any advice concerning it?

EDIT: Oh, man, I just realized that he's on that cool cob-web-y base.. I was really hoping for something more spidery, drat.

That necromancer piece is just… wow. Speechless. The skeleton and book look life-sized, incredible work. Great base as well. The highlights on the robes are a little too light for my taste (even though I like high contrast), but overall: marvelous.

Yeah, the highlights are a little too 'high contrast', but apart from that I think it could have a very good stab at a daemon.
