I've been thinking about getting back into fantasy and VC are my favorite army. I am a no comp tourny player (boo hiss) and haven't played sense 'Ard Boyz really.
My main problem with VC is core. It sucks. Its all S3 and it all dies rather easily. I don't even like Ghouls, they're good, but a decent unit tends to eat up your whole allowance and you don't even get a banner for B&G for your trouble.
So the list I was wanting to make was your standard BK bus, backed up with Hexwraiths and Terrorgheists. Would having 2 or 3 minimum Zombie units (to hold banners) and 10 or 11 units of 5 dogs work? They don't run so you could pretty much afford to chaff up 2 or 3 combat threats from the enemy. And with vanguard they can join the fight, whereas my big problem with other BK armies is that the core (a whole quarter of your army) is left behind. Not to mention you probably wouldn't even be done putting down dogs before your enemy deployed their whole army. Allowing you to concentrate your bus with Hexwraiths and Terrorgheists on the flanks to the weakest point in the enemy line.
Alternatively I might just go all infantry, in which case is taking like 200 Zombies a good call? Works for Skaven, just sayin :)

take two untis of 50 zombies with banners, they wont die that fast in blood and glory ;)

THan u can take a 6 units of wolves, having to many units, might work against u ;)

I wouldn't take the 200 Zombies approach. The Skaven core works because it unlocks weapon teams, pushes the Bell and, in many cases, is a Skavenslave unit that enables shoot-into-combat shenanigans. Zombies don't get to do any of that.

I tend to look at the Zombie as a three point wound token for Necromancers or caster Vampires, and a cheap standard bearer for not automatically losing Blood and Glory. If you want Core that actually does something, Dire Wolves (vanguardy chaff that can hurt war machines and wizards if they ever reach 'em) or Ghouls (the ones that can actually fight) or Skeletons (either for the Wall-O-Wraith shenanigans or as a base for a fear-bombing Vampire) are all better bets.

Zombie blocks with wraiths and blender vamps tear it up and easily heal. Ghouls and skeletons don't suck, you support them with van hels or shadow magic. Dire wolves are best chaff in game.

I run 8 units of 5 wolves. If I had more models I may run 2 more. I havnt lost a game when I spam wolves units. I'd never get more then 5, never a champ. Keep them as cheap as possible. Because their purpose is to die while knight bus and monsters/ hex all get to live.

With this many wolf drops, you control deployment, and you can control your enemies combat units. By redirecting. Divide their army while fast moving knight bus hex, vargiest, vargulf , terrorgiest all tag team one side of the battle.

Plus with the MSU (multiple small unit) strategies we will be seeing a lot more of, wolves will still give us that edge on deployment. I see more people here on the forums switching to getting lots more wolves.
