A cannon is a war machine, piloted by three crew

A hellcannon is a monster and living artillery, piloted by threw crew.

If the cannon shoots the Hellcannon do you:

Calculate everybody as taking a hit like a ridden monster?

Do you work it out as the cannon ball flies over different models in that unit (true line of trajectory)

Do you roll a dice and on a 1 to 4 the cannon takes the hit, and 5 or 6 means a crew member is struck?

I know its not a vampire question. I was testing my empire out the other day =D

The Hellcannon follows the rules for monster with handlers, so:

1. you shoot at the cannon specifically. Roll the artillery dice to see if it bounces through the hellcannon's base
2. if it hits see if you wound, S10 Vs T6 of the hellcannon = 2+
3. If you wound roll a D6;
on a roll of 1-4 the hell cannon takes the wound, roll another D6 to see how many wounds you inflict on the hellcannon (hopefully 5+)
on a roll of 5-6 a crew member takes the wound, as the crew members only have 1 wound that is how many you do and the single crew member is removed from play

Um, I'm really really sure it's no longer randomised like that. The rule you are quoting is for charicters on ridden monsters.

In this case you would do 1. and 2.

3. Roll a D6 to determin how many wounds the cannon does. The hell cannon takes that many wounds.

The crew are ignored except if the cannon eats them, then you need to take a monster reaction test.

I'll get ya page numbers from the BRB and FAQ's tonight.

Hellcannon counts as monster and handlers pg 66 WoC, pg 73 BRB. therefore unsaved wounds are randomised between the chaos dwarves 5-6 and cannon 1-4.
Target hellcannon as usual ignoring the dwarves.
roll to wound against the hellcannon, roll to see how many wounds it causes and randomise these between crew and hellcannon.

Hope that helps

A cannon directed at a Character on a Monster hits BOTH character AND monster. Hits against Monsters and Handlers ARE randomised.

Templates

If you use a weapon or spell that uses a template against a monster mount, both the riders and the mount are automatically hit if the monster's base is touched by the template (note that this includes bouncing cannonballs!)...

In this case, as said before, monsters and handlers are randomised - roll to wound against the monster, then roll a D6: 1-4 hits the monster, 5-6 hits a handler:

...When the monster suffers an unsaved wound, roll a D6. On a 1-4 the monster suffers the wound as normal, but on a 5-6 a handler model is removed instead...
.

Hope this clears things up - I felt the need to give a quote on this to clarify what people had already said.

So is it D6 wounds and then determine where each of them goes? Or determine what got hit and then it suffers D6 wounds?

I stand corrected. I was sure I was correct, but I was remembering the DE Hydra, not WoC Hellcannon. Sorry about that.

Correct.
