RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 12/28/08 -- Twice!

You HAVE to post a closeup of the rider for your Black Coach. That models has inspired me incredibly. Amazing work. Can't wait to see more pics too of that monster.

What I have to add is that the colors are very clean. Don't know if I've said that before but I haven't ever seen models look that great before.

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 12/28/08 -- Twice!

Thanks, Dictator. (And the rest of you!)

I plan on getting some brighter photos of the coach, and I can include some close-ups, too. I'm not making any promises that you'll like it as much on the close-up. The mummy himself is a model I consider to be beyond my ability to paint -- he's just that technically demanding.

Hopefully some new pictures will be up tomorrow.

I am very pleased you got back to working on this army. The idea is wonderful and the execution is spectacular. I have really enjoyed following your progress so far. Keep it up!!

As promised, here are some brighter pictures of the Coach, including some closer pictures of Sophet Drahas himself.

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 12/31/08

What will you be doing with the shields that adorn the front, back, sides of the model? Or are they completed too?

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 12/31/08

The model is not actually finished. The shields will have theater masks painted on to them (though possibly just "sad" faces). I need to add a bit to the base, too. I've been throwing party debris on the bases of the rest of the army and I like the look of it.

Update 1/3/09 -- Clowns!

Finally finished my ghouls!

I maintain that painting clowns is tremendous fun -- though I did sort of phone some of these in, so to speak. Actually, the best part about painting these was imagining the guy who had to train the ghouls to act like clowns.

Pictures!

All of my ghouls in a row. Two units of 12, each unique. The "fairy" clowns are my champions, as I needed something that looked the same in both units, but were distinct.

These are my newest seven models. (The guy with the bells was added to the 4x1 group.) I love polka-dots!

A closer picture of my first unit. Naturally, the unit composition will change each time I field this, but, as you can imagine, they don't fit together easily. Putting this army on the table is going to be like assembling a jigsaw puzzle each time.

Second unit.

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 1/3/09

I'm speechless, I keep looking over the models and then seeing something I didn't see the first time to make me stare more. I'm going back to staring, out.

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 1/3/09

Those Ghouls in tu-tu's made me laugh an awful lot! I love 'em! :D

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 1/3/09

Those are very interesting. You will definately have to add those in to your army now. If not just to copy the idea!

Black Knights: the Bicycle Krew

I'm just putting primary colors on everything right now, as I'm trying to get this army ready for a tournament in two weeks time. After that, I'll go back and detail everything for a tournament in mid-summer that's even more important.

So here are my Black Knights. Once finished, the shields will be decorated with theater mask images, to further fit in with the army theme.

The variety is great. I am a big fan of the handlebars too.

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 1/11/09

For some reason, this is the creepiest army I have ever seen...and that's a good thing for VC. Keep up making me feel terrible for not being anywhere near as talented as you. :(

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 1/11/09

I have my "primary color" paint job done on my Masquerade (Grave Guard), and I played my first game with a (nearly) fully-painted army tonight. My opponent did have some questions during the game about what's what. In fact, there was even a question at one point about which way a new block of 20-ish zombies was facing. (Many of the models are staggering around, and I may not have been terribly careful about how I put them into the movement tray after summoning them.)

All told, it looks like I'll have to be careful while playing this army. I'll have to make sure my opponent knows what he's facing at each step, to avoid confusion.

I've decided to dress my Vampires in white, to try to distinguish them in the battle line, but I'm not sure that's going to be enough. Still, we'll see how it turns out.

I'll need an army photo soon, so you can judge for yourself.

RE: Carnivale de los Muerte: Updated 1/11/09

Well, if you were to give them extra lace, etc. they would look great. Generally the biggest and grandest dressed is the owner of the carnival. So while white would be good looking it might stick them out too bad and therefore make them unwanted targets.

Update 1/17/09

I am down to one figure left in this first stage of painting -- my BSB. Here, then, are two of the figures I've finished today. The first is my Vampire Lord. He's fully painted, though I may add a bit to the base.

Shown here in the unit of Grave Guard. You can see now why I chose to paint him white. He stands out fairly well, I think. That's important to me, as I don't want to "decieve" my opponent by hiding my vampires. ;)

You can almost see the four dancers in the bank rank. They're finally done, too. No real picture for them yet, though.

The second is the last of my Fell Bats. It's the multi-colored one in there. Very busy! :) The lord is in there to show scale.
