Hi CN!

There are plans for creating a fiction competition here on CN. Each member participating would post their short story (there would be a cap on length, to be confirmed) and members would vote for their favourite [not voting for themselves, of course] and the winner would be determined, possibly with a few rounds, requiring candidates who make it through to write another story (or have another prepared at the start in case they make it through) to post and be judged again, allowing members to get more of a feel for your writing style.

Staff would possibly be allowed to join in also. However, this thread is an interest-check; if you would like there to be a competition, please say so! We only need a few members to say yes for it to happen, so don't be shy.

There would be prizes (most likely in the form of CN zombies and a shiny medal) but also the bragging rights of being the best writer on CN!

Again, please post if you're interested. I'd certainly be, so that's one already.

I am also expressing interest in this. I might not find the time to write anything up but i would be quite interested in reading some of the stuff anyway if i cant.

Would there be any limitiations on the content of the writing, ie a theme or particular style or writing prompt to provide a general focus to all of the entrants?

Hooray for asking Bishop for a general announcement. I should do this more often... :devil2:

I would say that five people within one day is a good omen. Unless you guys all cancel (if you do, your sigs will never recover) then this will almost certainly be going ahead.

The aim really is to generate some awesome fiction. It doesn't matter whether or not you win, it's all about taking part. (I'll try and see if everyone who participates can get some zombies...!)

There will be a minimum and maximum word-count, which is still to be confirmed.

As for theme, I think keeping it Warhammer-based would be a good start. But then it could be 40k or Fantasy, (or LotR I suppose) and those two systems are PACKED with fluff, so there's not exactly much of a restriction there. If anyone has any major problems with it being warhammer-based stories, please say so (and say why!) so we can sort something out. Although with warhammer 40k and fantasy both being so rich in background, I doubt that'll be the case.

Glad to see there are so many eager writers here on CN! This bodes well for the roleplay section... ;)

You know what, I've always been too busy for contests but I'm going to enter this time. Warhammer or 40K based would be great, I thought it would be VC based only(which would have been fine also). Hopefully I get my grammar sorted out...knowing multiple languages isn't always that great.

Sanai, that counts as saying you're in, so with Malochai we number an impressive nine. Nine stories will be quite a read, so they're going to have to be short!

And well paragraphed to avoid eye-doom... :clown:

Good news!

The competition will be going ahead, and has been designated an official CN event.

I have christened it the Golden Fang (unless DoN strongly dislikes this!) and the winner will receive 100 zombies, second place 50 zombies, third 25 zombies, and you all get 10 zombies just for participating!

Also, there will be a CN medal (which goes under your avatar ) for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners. So lots to play for!

An official sign-up and information thread will follow soon.

Ok, it's not going to be called the Golden Fang any more (just a quick name I chucked in there) it will most likely be the Sable Scroll. I am now working on the proper thread, honest!
