Greetings one and all!

Carpe Noctem is proud to announce it's new affiliation with Battle Chronicler - www.battlechronicler.com

For those of you who don't know BC is the best battle report softwares currently available.

It is a program available for windows, and best of all it is free! However whilst it is free it provides many features that would be expected from a paid program. The ability to accurate create maps complete with terrain:

To customise units with their own colours, icons and names:

Even track and show the movement of units with helpful arrows, which are provided automatically when you move a unit:

It is also very customisable with the ability to add components.

So CN is very pleased to enter into a mutual non-profit agreement with BC. We will do our best to advertise BC and its great features here on the forum and in the Invocation, and in return BC has very kindly allowed us the use of its software on this site.

Plus there is something else, specially made for CN that is coming very soon!

So I hope that you will all join me in welcoming Battle Chronicler to our little family, especially as the author is already registered here.

Cheers

Woo hoo! Even advertising my total disability to roll charge distances! =)

Great stuff, DoN. We'll see what happens when you finally have time to continue posting in our game!

It's great - but I can't figure out how to put a hero in a unit. Also, it is persistently keeping all my units in a very narrow formation: e.g. I have a unit of 40 Chaos Warriors, and I'm trying to deploy it in four rows of ten. But no matter whether I change the 'files' to 4 or 10, it remains as if it were 10 rows of four. Furthermore, it didn't have the base size for someone on a Juggernaut, i.e.e 50mm square (right?). So I created one, but instead of being 50mm square it is being shown as something absurd like 125mm x 75mm. I have checked, and everything is in order. Finally, I have no idea how to do the Hellcannon - or indeed any unit with multiple base sizes.

There is currently no way to make a unit with varied base sizes. The easiest thing to do is to attach one unit to the other.

Attach is how you put a character in a unit as well (it's in the bottom left hand side of the army lists)

There is an option to reform a unit, try that to correct your rank/file issue. (it's under the Game menu). I've seen all kinds of unit formations. You should be able to do that.

You can do "custom" base sizes as well (like the 50 x 75 for something like a Giant)

As for your other oddities, I'd have to see them :D

I clicked "Reform Selected Unit", but nothing happened whatsoever... And yet I had selected the unit first...
Ok, I've got the attatchement...
Ok, I understand the Helcannon...
I did make a custom base size, but it didn't work! It says that it is 50mmx50mm, but it shows a 125 x 75!

I think I now understand what's going wrong. For some reason, it is not registering anything I edit in Game Details - it continues to show the changes in the details, but it has no effect on the actual display - The problems have been fixed by deleting and re-making the units in question. Still, it's a bug.

I have tried to install and use Battle Chronicler but every time i try to make a new report it crashes and gives an xml error, i am using Windows 7 64bit and have also tried it on windows xp 32. Had anyone else had any problems? sorry if this is in the wrong place i couldnt see where to post it.

I've not installed this on an x64 system before. However, try following this install order.

So, I'd suggest the following install order:

a) .NET 4
b) Battle Chronicler v1.0.1
c) BC Component pack
d) Battle Chronicler v1.1.1 Beta

I'd suggest trying to install in Compatibilty for XP as well. Hopefully that helps you out!
