Hmmmm remind me to test the whole "flickering" set before building the whole scene...

Yesterday evening I have been busy making the scheme for the lighting... drilling holes in the styrodur as where the wires should run through, carefully connecting everything. Once I had build it completely up... only the first 2 lights and the red light worked the other four didn't even give a hint of light.

I took it all apart again, tried to figure out what had gone wrong and then put it together again. The only downthing was, that in the "firelight-module" the fire was meant to be that alle the lights were at the same place. Some lights just give more light then others. In the end I just put all the light on one group, hoping it would give anough light. It actually did, but the flickering was so monotonous... it was very dull... :(

After a good night sleep, I have decided to take out the flickering module and just solder all the lights together so it just becomes a stationary light. I know it is a pity, but it still will give an extra dimension to this scene with the light. :)

Owh the big mausoleum at the front is the only one with red light. The Necromancer will stand next to it, doing his magic which will glow red! :devil2:

Hmmm I managed to solder the wires of the lights together, as the flickering module didn't work as expected. I glued the Styrodur together put some PVA glue on the floor and covered it with a mixture of sand and small stones. After that I gave it a coat of dark brown paint and this is the first result after the first quick cover of paint. I'm quite happy with it already... didn't expect the stones to come out this detailed.

The macro-function of my camera makes clear that my first paintjob isn't the best haha... still some green holes to fill ;) Back to painting!

Hi everyone!

I have made some small progress... I have been painting the inside of my crypt.... but I was waiting for some "detailes" stonecarvings to attach to the walls, and they have arrived today, so they can be added in a few days!

The light in the Crypt is working fantastic as you can see on the photo down here.

Next to that I have started on painting the Garden of Morr buildings. The whole idea is inspired by a wallpaper from Diablo 3 which serves as background on my computer atm. So the colourscheme will more or less be like this.

I started with the building on the hill and I tried to do some OSL, but I guess it needs some learning

Does anyone have an idea how to improve the glowing eyes of the stone carvings in this building? Any idea is welcome!

You sir are a genius, cant wait to see this bad boy finished!!! As for gravestones a few more wouldn't hurt it, maybe a few open graves or skeletons digging for more bodies. The lighting is amazing too. Now that i have come across this thread again i will be watching it with great interest. Keep up the amazing work!!

I like it.. Makes me want to try one.

I like the cut away view of the cyrpts. Earlier you stated "Blown away" by dark magic. Personally, it think it should be just a cut away to show a view of whats going on under the crypt. Terrian and models should treat that cut away section as its not there.

Great job.. Love to see it when its done.

first of all, I love it.

Definately more gravestones!:grave::grave::grave::grave::grave::grave::grave::grave::grave::grave::grave:
what about a banshee or a wraith floating halfway through a piece of scenery?

Gravestones are coming in, but first I needed to finish the basic buldings... here's the result sofar!

Happy New Year to you all guys! Let's have fun with VC in 2012!!!

That is a cool looking cemetery. I really like the underground area that you have there. The bricks are very well done and make it look all creepy and old. You could try a tiny amount of static grass or some other greens here and there inbetween the bricks. Only a few bits like that may help to imply age as it will look like old moss growing in the bricks.

This is a great project and hopefully I'll have to time and money to do something similar myself. This is truly one of the best pieces of scenery I've seen in a long time with great attention to details.

This is inspirational. I feel the hobby lacks great dioramas these days, there used to be some really fantastic ones; Warhammer Quest, Horus V. The Emperor and Wood Elves V. Undead to name but a few. They always had so much going on in them. When I went to Warhammer World and got a good close up of the Warhammer Quest Diorama I still saw new things even though it had been about for fourteen years.

Vlad your diorama is shaping up like one of these master pieces. I can't wait to see the finished version so keep it up.
