Id like to discuss our chaff, and your success with them, even if its only happened once, even if it was against the odds. Please detail what tactics you use to have success.

My stories, I have two, first I had a unit of 5 dire wolves vanguard move 12 inches. I went second and was able to charge a casket of souls and after a few rounds of combat I had manage to kill it. I was able to squeeze through a block of arches and a necrosphinx. Using dart formation of course.

Second story I was up against another vampire player he head blender vamp in black knight bus escorting a terrorgiest on the left side of the battle field. I vanguard moved some hex wraths right at the terrorgiest. I went second this game as well. He moved his knights forward not fearing the hex wraths . And he flew his giest right behind the bus. He measured to see if hex were close enough to charge. He placed it about 19 inches away. On my turn I declared a charge and rolled 11, two rounds later guest was dead. Thanks ahead for and contribution. I think we could use some chaff tactics and inspiration

1 Dire wolf charging and Killing a Liche High Priest

The most legendary performance however was once when a raised unit of 10 zombies defeated, broke and ran down a tooled-up dwarf lord (rest of his unit had been killed).

We don't speak of it. Our resident dwarf player is a bitter bitter person sometimes

Recently I had a rather fun(but unimportant) standoff between 5 Chaos Warhounds and my 5 DW. They engaged eachother on the flank and was held up with eachother throughout the whole game, while the real battle razed in the middle of the board. In the end my lone DW broke the warhounds and ran them down(I also won the game)! :D

The warhounds with only Ld 5 and being on the flank out of the generals bubble failed almost all of their fear tests... so here is actually a good example of where Fear is worth it :D

I've had 5 DW's charge a High Elf Bolt Thrower on 3 different occasions and all three times they have ended up dying and not killing it.

Oh wait, wrong thread... :P

Spirit Hosts are just mean against non-daemons and therefore I'll just say there are some angry angry Hydras in my gaming store, hehe.

But, as for other chaff... once my 5 dire wolves held a 2-round combat against Pink Horrors, and the champ almost kills the herald in a challenge, hehehe. They lost due to being charged themselves on the flank by some Seekers. Was a lot of fun to watch, hehe

A few months ago i was playing against a WoC army. It consisted of a horde of 40 Chosen of khorne an some other units. Ultimately i lost the game because said horde munched through all my units but the moment i remember best was when i raised a zombie speed bump to block his Chaos spawn special character. Sadly i cant remember his name. Anyway the 12 zombie speedbump held him up for 2 turns and aftet getting a IoN off he was facing 20 and sort of just dies.

It was mainly bad luck on his part but ot was so much fun to watch my zombies to go beyond the call of duty and mess this guy up in CC. A monster who i thought would do more damage.

Had a Spirit Host hold up a Stegadon for 4 turns the other hold up a unit of 6 Cold One Cavalry for 3 turns killing 2 in the process :perv:. Still Lost the battle, but it is amazing what an Ethereal unit can do.

Held up a unit of 5 mournfang with the "I charge you and you die" banner for his turns 3, 4 and 5 with 3 units of 2 fell bats.

I fly up, park so that he front charges me at a 90 degree angle to himself. He can't overrun away from the battle, so he reforms, I repeat with another unit, and again.

Meanwhile I mopped up the rest of his army, then faced him once he mopped up the last of the bats then charged him :)

My best moment was probably a while back before the current edition of VC when I was playing against Skaven. By about turn 3 or 4 I only had a couple units left including my magicky vampire lord. I casted Raise Dead and brought up a unit of 20 or so zombies. I charged them into a Doomwheel that turn(Using Danse Macabre), and won from the sheer amount of ranks and because I had charged, etc. The Doomwheel fled through a unit of Skaven which were attached to a Screaming Bell, all of which fled also. All off the table. Best. Zombies. Ever.

Must be fate this thread cropped up, as this happened just this past weekend.

A lone Spirit Host, flank charged a unit of Chaos Knights and held them there for 2 turns. Then that Spirit Host (still in combat with the Kngihts) gets flanked charged by chaos warhounds, but still manage to survive with 1 wound left. Next turn, I kill 2 dogs and win combat by 1 (he didn't have a standard in the Knight unit). He double failed both his break tests with both units and I managed to run the Knights down, but the lone warhound got away. Not bad for a little ghost base.

I had a unit of two spirit hosts hold up a 45 man maurader unit in horde formation with xtra hand weapons and mark of khorde for 3 rounds and then, the mauraders lost combat by one, failed their break test, and got run down my ghosts. He was not happy.

Lone Spirit Host charged my friends Slann with a roll of 11 on the charge. Dealt one wound. He failed his leadership roll and fled 3 inches. Spirit Host swept the Slann. I'm sure it will never get better for me.

Wait, aren't Skaven attached to a Screaming Bell Unbreakable/ IP? Still a cool story though! :)

Um, I can't remember. Might have been the rat Mage person thingy that failed the panic test so the entire unit fled because of that but this was a while back so the smaller details are hard to remember.

Well undead have the most successful chaff in the game.

"zombitches! Put operation dead meat into full effect and get destroyed while I clean my fangs"

Otherwise my batswarm taking out a greater daemon of khorn is always my most successful momment in WH. He missed all of his attacks I wounded him and he fled. This is back when the model had nearly all stats at 10 and when the "fly up high" rule still existed

Most broken rule ever

I don't think my chaff have ever killed anything awesome by themselves, but they don't need to.

I'm happy with the sheer infuriation they cause:D

Skeleton champion slew an oldblood on a carnosaur. Was hilarious. I promoted that skeleton to GG immediately.

5 wolves charged 30 high elf archers in the flank, elves missed, dogs dragged a few elves down, and they ran away, wolves were faster and had a yummy snack.

Raised a handful of zombies mid battle field to tie up a Treman Ancient. They received a handful of IoN because they happened to be close enough to what really needed raising. In the end they ended up about 25 strong and got lucky won combat, Treeman bolted... slowly got eaten by zombies.

In the previous ed. of Beastmen I would run 2+ Chaos Spawns with the Slannesh upgrade so they would move 3D6, point them at mages and let them zoom forward to butcher mages galore.

Tonight i had 4 dire wolves charge some dragon princes in the flank. They lost one but killed a prince and the princes broke and fled and my pups caught em.

Had a spirit host get charged by a big 40 man block of Empire core. His BSB landed three wounds on teh ghost with some magic weapon. Spirit host killed his bsb, then crumbled due to CR. Of course crumbling didn't allow him to over run into my ghouls who were chowing down on handgunners.

Last GT I played in, against OK ,Major objective was to kill ememie's lowest points unit. If multiples of same unit you must kill them all. Spirit leeched 2 kitties turn 1 and he cowered his last in the corner to save 300 vp's.
Turn 5 I get off a long charge on the last cat which he cannot flee from for fearing fleeing off the table. I do 2 wounds, restrain and get a rear charge on a unit of 8 leadbelchers in turn 6, break them and run them down.

That lil' SH got me 700+ VP's!!
