Does anyone know any really good site for getting commision sculpts done?

Preferably ones you've used yourself and links would be appreciated too. In case you're you're wondering what I want a sculpt of it's the vamp off pg.7 of the current army book.

BTW please don't suggest Scibor, he won't workoff GW IP

Is the Vampire on page seven that you are referring to the one which is standing upon another within the Vampire Council chamber?

That's exactly the one.

@Richie-€400! You serious? I'm hoping most people are a bit more reasonable. That or I'm learning how to sculpt as soon as my arm's fixed.

How much would you be willing to spend as a per hour rate? Then figure out how many hours it should take, and that would give you a ballpark figure of how much to commission a sculpture for.

You may also try to get someone who's trying to make a name for themselves in the sculpting world to do it on the cheap. That's how most contractors I deal with work. Be warned; ensure you have what constitutes what constitutes a complete sculpture and what is not acceptable. I have no idea how you'd do that, but if someone spends 30 hrs to make a sculpture that you're not happy with in the end, they'll want to get paid, and you may not want to pay them. Someone's going to have a problem.

Actually something that would work too would be any links to tuts that would help, that way I could make it myself, so like basics, armatures, hair, faces, weapons, and funky armour plates would help a lot too. I really wanna be able to do stuff like this myself, only thing really holding me back from more detailed conversions is lack of GS-fu.

Yeah I am and given how hard and long it takes even for a pro sculptor that is more than a reasonable price. That's why a lot of people myself included don't do commission pieces as its not worth the prices people offer, I had some guy ask me to sculpt him horus and the emperor for $300 US, given how long that would have taken me (less than 1$ an hour) there's no way I would work for that.

I think that's me off the idea of getting a commision done then. Any idea on stuff I should start practicing on to help then?

The other places you can look is places that have very different dollar values (Philippines, China, etc) and then 100 Euros translate into a lot more man hours.

Still bit much for a sixteen year-old. Depending on how wednesday goes see what I'll do

Whilst the costs that are quoted may seem steep, as Richie says once you consider the hours of work that go in to a good sculpt (as well as the years of practice and work to get to the skill level of the sculptor), it is not unreasonable.

You would also end up with a unique piece.

Still, not for the faint of pocket ;)
