Greetings one and all,

Whats your opinion on consoles etc?

I believe they are completely superfluous as the PC is superior in every way imagineable to a console. The Xbox 360 even has its controller PC compatible to remove any possible arguments about controllers being an issue on a PC. The age of the console will soon be ending if this trend continues, in my opinion.

yeah, i doubt that consoles will be around for all that longer...I personally would rather have a very good computer then say a ps3 or xbox360, I can do more on it, and in my experiences the games are more fun to play on computers because of the fact that most console games cannot be modded and the graphics on consoles arent that great..

Positive point about consoles: It's fun to play with a few people on one console with a few gamepads

Positive points about PC's: everything else (and LAN-parties are also a lot of fun, so it has the same positive point as consoles)

So yeah, PC's > Consoles in every aspect. The problem is that not everyone sees it that way so consoles will stay quite long I'm afraid

The downside with PC's is that you have to a lot of new components in a pretty short time to stay up to date. That isn't the case with consoles. Though, you get close because every 2-3 years a new console is released. :P

PC's can get hacked though... On the other hand, you have way more possibilities to do stuff. + you can get cracked games :P

3 Console types is too much in my opinion. I think Ps 3 will therefore be the first one to drop - so no Ps 4.

I love them, especially after gamining on them for over 20+ years! First one was an Atari 2600 when I was a youngling and I currently have a Wii, 360 and DS as well as a PC (plus lots of servers when I'm at work but I can't use them for gaming).

There's no right or wrong as I only really look towards what games I want to play rather than what is superiour. ;)

I agree with Gaz, the games are more important than what you're playing it on, and I find that a lot of computer games nowadays are repeditive. Not to say console games aren't, but I suppose they're more to my taste.

you could probebly say like a friend of mine(who is a halo lunatic); why chose when you can have both?

personaly i love the feel of playing sports games on a console.....but for next NHL game(09) i will probebly pack away the ps2 and buy an controll adapter for my computer(.....no im not gonna play a sports game with the mouse or keybord......that would just feel 100% wrong)

Quite the opposite actually, Console sales are on the up and up, out of the current lot, the Wii is by far the market leader mainly down to it's universal appeal and price. Nintendo have seen the gap in the market is girls and mums and hence the uni sex style of game like brain training and nintendogs.
As a manager of various computer game shops for over 10 years I have seen the market evolve. PC gaming if anything is on the decline as the main games that are made for the PC are rapidly declining in quality as all the money is in the console market. Piracy plays a huge part as PC games are often cracked and uploaded on torrent sights months before release. The staple diet of most PC gamers are FPS's, MMORPG's, RPG's and strategy games. The consoles main diet is sports, driving, FPS's and platformers, the two formats can co exist as they each have different gaming experiences to offer, mainly down to the mouse keyboard combination working well for certain games where as rumbling game pads work better for others.
However more and more PC only games are now coming out on console as well, where the buyer does not have to worry about whether his graphics card, ram are up too scratch, with Vista out now, the specs of some of these games is staggering, the average person does not want to shell our 4-500 quid for the latest graphics card just to play game and also probably lacks the skills to install the thing in the first place.
Consoles are easy to use, easy to play with friends, cheaper and in the main part look the same if not better than your average PC game ( I have had a go on the PS3 version of Assasins Creed and it is mind blowing).
Consoles have never been in stronger position, with 3 very strong companies behind them, gone are the shaky days of the 80's with 20-30 consoles out at the same time. Sony is having a hard time with the PS3 but nothing that a few good games and a price drop wont solve.

Dont get me wrong I am a PC gamer at heart (currently playing Stalker and dark Messiah) but also own and play many consoles, admitedly no where near as much as I did before I started playing Hammer again and joining forums. When I hear 2 people state that consoles are going to die, when the PC market share of the total number of games sold is probably less than 10% (and 8% of that is the @&*^$£% Sims) it makes me want to correct these crazy ideas.
PC's will always be around and games will be made for them but the mass market will all ways go for your PS7's and your Wii 3's......

I prefer a good computer in front of any console, but it's such a huge relief to be able to buy games which actually work.. No restrictions, they all work with your console. Although, they are very expensive and not as much fun.

Halo 2 couch-war is funny though ^^

I love consoles and I love computers. I would never argue over which was better because for me they are 2 completely different things. Consoles are for games, and computers for Internet, Flash and all of that malarkey. I also don't see consoles kicking the bucket just yet with this crazy Online Pwnage.

The line between PC and console has been slim for a very long time now. The nintendo Wiis controller, for example, is a computer mouse with a third dimension in my eyes. Gaming innovation died a long time ago, which is a danm shame.
