So i'm trying to start a vc army but I'm really not impressed with most of the models for vampires lords. Vlad is kinda cool, the bald one on the horse is neat and the carstein models are ok but the rest I'm not that impressed with.

Being a 40k fan I've found myself looking through some witch hunter HQ models and I really like the Inquisitor model that comes in a box with a retinue

I've watched way to much vampire hunter D and Hellsing so the hat just screams cool to me. The eye patch is neat too. Not to mention my idea is that my vampire Lord is a former witch hunter for the empire... granted this is a 40k model but I don't see any fantasy witch hunter models on GW website so who's to say what they look like (or maybe someone can).

Also I see that the retinue that comes in the box could easily be converted into necromancers, and the model with the shield might be able to be a wight king but that might be pushing it sense I think he really needs that skull head to get the right look, and I kinda like the GW models for wight kings anyway.

Here is my main dilemma. Even if I can convert these models (including correct square bases) for use in a VC army, is it legal? Or will I find some shops look at them and tell me I can't use those to represent x model in a vc army?

If it is legal, modeling Ideas are welcome. (I plan to give the "witch hunter" fencer's blades so it should be easy enough to convert the gun arm with a blade instead).

check out my xgamers plog too see one of the old witch hunters he has duel pistols. His name was wilhelm I think. He is from the dogs of war range ebay is the besst bet for him now. There is various other witchunter models in the mordheim range too.

I agree that converting some of the 40k models is very easy a few of my flaggellents in my empire army are 40k inqusition figures.

As for legal yes 40k models along as they are on the correct base and armed correctly are legal. so the witchhunter idea is a good one. I really look forward too seeing how you convert some of these people. Check out the winged vampire for a good fencing sword it is detached at the wrist.

Thanks for the confirmation and ebay pointers. In the back of my mind I was wondering about old models. Now to begin brainstorming (and hope I get job, have an interview tomorrow :D)

Would be a lots of work to make most of them fit in Fantasy, but it sure can look cool if done right! Would have to see that if you do make it :)

As for Witch Hunter, you can always use Warhammer Online for reference:

So the one in the 40k box is very fitting and should take minimal effort to make him Fantasy-ready xD

Heya,

lovely idea there Guthbrand, the irony of it would be rather impressive.

I have to throw a wierd idea in here. If you go with the fencers blades that will be very cool indeed but if you wanted him to be a witch hunter with sword and pistol... why not model the pistol up with some kind of ghostly head flying out of it, or flames and other eldritch wierdness? you could then equip the VC with either of the bound spell from the army book (Flaming Death i think) or the ring of ruin from the rulebook and "count them" as a twisted necromantic pistol weapon that draws on dark magic?

Sorry... been playing way too much of the Darkwatch game on the x-box recently :) Seriously, go for it and do the undead witchunters, it will be great to see!

So would they be Witch hunters now hunting witch hunters.....that would be irony.lol

That would be a Witch Hunter Hunter xD

Also in the Black Library books (Vampire Wars trilogy), one off the character is a wich hunter turned into a Vampire by Vlad and Co. (not Vlad that turned him, but one of his henchman I think). So nothing really new there and not far-fetched :)
