First of all, i know there is another tread about alternative black coachs, but i'm looking for some advice/ideas/concepts, so i decided to start a new thread.

The idea is build a spectral chariot that counts as a black coach. Some kind of "harvester of souls".

I plan to use corpse cart as base model. The pile of corpses painted in ethereal scheme could pass for a bunch of tortured souls. Also like the ribcage look of the cart.
For the rest i'm unsure. I plan to put some WE horses (painted also ethereal) for spectral horses, but maybe dire wolves can also do the job.
I´m also stuck with the wraith. I've tried the cart necromancer, but don't look different enough.
Also i'm lost with details that can give the model a more ghostly feel.

Anyone has tried something similar, or has thinkings about? I will be glad to exchange ideas

PD: i'll post WIP pics as soon as possible

Pics as promised. Also you can see the posibilities.

Nice idea!
I think it would be better if you'd remove the corpses and cut a roof for the cart from plasticard. And take the necro and put him on the front of the cart. You can put the balefires near the necro and it would tool great.
And I'd go with the horses if I were you, wood elf horses would look great if painted like knigtmares. They have the cool phantom of the opera look. :D

I've wanted to make something like this for over a year.

Shouldn't the black coach be just on a Chariot base size? Not Chariot+Cavalry base?

I think it looks best with 2 or 3 horses. I'd also ditch the bodies (use it for zombie unit filler?), put the driver in the front as suggested, and put something more imposing in the corpse cart. Not sure what, but I'm sure someone has some creative ideas on here.

some rework done. i've reversed the cart and put the necro in front. Looks more interesting, but still lacks something, specially on cart back...

Fluff wise, Black Coaches are carrying around a regenerating vampire, from whom their potent abilities stem. Perhaps some ghoulish little gaunt vampire frantically shoving gore into his mouth while crouching on the pile of dead bodies in the back would work in this role?

I actually liked the wolves better, but the horses are good. As for the back I like Keldane's suggestion, however another idea could be to move the brazier above the wraiths head to the back of the cart and add some flames in it.

A Vamp on a throne on the back of the cart would be cool.
You could use Vect's throne from the Dark Eldar Line, might even be able to make Vect himself work.

I really think the WE horse work best.

Edit: Just looked at my Vect model. The throne would work well, even has a diamond pattern platform.
Don't think Vect himself'll work though.

Hey man, I really like your idea and there have been some good suggestions made, I know the black coach has its history n stuff but if your more in it for the conversion just go with what you like and have your heart set on.

Only things I can think of to make it more spectral would be to maybe cut off some of the bottom of the cart and the back feet of the horses in a straight diagonal line going from mid-way back wheel down to horses feet to make it look like it's coming out the ground(something along them lines at least), also you could try adding a mist effect with some cotton wool or the fake spider webs you get at Halloween.

Good luck with it and I look forward to seeing it when your done.

Thank you to all for your suggestions. I been doing some more "bluetacking" based on your replies. Althoug there are good ideas about vampires, i want to stick to the "harvest of souls" concept. A chariot that takes power from tortured souls it collects from battlefield. I'm mostly sure i will go with horses and mist effect.
But here are some more pics to commnet.

Looking pretty nice actually, however the main issue I think you will have is the people easily mistaking it for a CC due to the bodies. Personally I would consider removing them and putting the actual coffin from the Black Coach there.

I would also remove the sword blade and put a scythe on the necro model to make it look more wraith like. I really like the horses, much better than the wolves.

I know the fluff is that it's a coffin in a carriage... but I like the idea of a sickly, weak vampire sitting in there, and luring hitchhikers in so he can feed... or forcing them.

Or maybe trapped spirits? I definitely agree the bodies have to go... unless you can have a sickly vampire feeding off of them, and get some kind of roof on top, and maybe a captive or two that's still alive...

I would like to stay away from coffins. I really don't understand much the fluff of a dead vampire in a battlefield....

I was hoping than painting corpses in a ethereal way (like spirit hosts or cairn wraiths) they could effectively pass for "souls", instead of "corpses". But i'm also thinking about swap the bodies for something else (flagellants, maybe), also ethereal painted.

Here's something different: try mounting the coffin on the heap of bodies. Or rather than a coffin per say, create a slab/altar mounted on the bodies of the slain victims of the vampire. This way when he awakes, he can feed right then and there.

And I agree, I like the wolves much more than the horses.

Not sure about others but I like the brazier in the back, balances things (was my idea xD ). Still like the wolves better, horses just seem out of place.

As for the vampire you could do something kinda like in Dracula (the 1992 movie with Hopkins, Reeves, Ryder and Oldman), where near the end when the coach with Dracula in the back, surrounded by dirt, and hes pretty gnarly looking (sry cant find a pic, hope you've seen it). So you could do something like that with a little hunched vampire, like others have said, very zombie looking, covered in rags and stuff, so without closer inspection, he would blend into the model. That way you get look you want but still get a vampire in there resurrecting.

I think you've hit it spot on, right there. I'm in the camp that likes the horses -- and I especially like having all three horses there -- but to be fair to your opponent, you'll want to shorten it's base back to chariot size. Measuring 6" from the model will stretch it's Miasma out over a bigger portion of your army if you make the model half-again as long.

Mate, If you wona stay away from the coffins/vampire in the back (which I think you should to suit your idea) just have it as a corpse cart, but instead of flesh corpses, they are the souls of the dead from the battle field.

I think your idea is great but it suits the corpse cart history/fluff better.

Only other thing I can think of if you still want it to be a black coach is, have a necromancer vampire so it makes more sense that they can feed from souls rather than flesh.

Why dont you use the old nice banshee model instead of a necro or wraith to follow up on your reaper of souls theme?

I think it might work pretty good in the pile of dead people. Especially with the grin on her face and the pointing she does.

And use the horses yea they will look better imo especially when painted ghastly as you are planning to.

Yorga, just as a reminder, if a thread hasn't been posted in in about 6 months, it would be better to PM the person who started it as opposed to commenting, because it's likely the thread is dead.
