Hi,
this may be a stupid question, but I just don't know how this works. A CC is listed as special in the book, but a necro is a hero. In the necro profile it says a necro can ride a CC. Does this make the CC points go towards hero points? Also how does the death of one or the other happen?

Thanks for the help, sorry if this is a real beginner question.

Yeah, it will come out of your hero points as it's an option for him to take adding to his value.

Missle hits are randomised, templates hit the whole lot in most cases and combats people mostly get to pick. The details are in the brb. Look up character mounts in the index.

I'd add the question (as a new VC player) that is it worthwhile to mount a Necro in a cart with the incredibly harsh miscast table?

Is it just a waste of a cart (that'll most likely get explodinated by magical backlashes of doom),
or is the added protection (and always having a necro in range to keep the cart pumping it's abilities) worthwhile?

For what it adds in terms of hit randomisation, the Corpse Cart takes a lot away in terms of profile. I prefer my Necromancers skulking and hard to draw line of sight to in the first place.

I don't disagree, but do you happen to know where this is actually set down in the rulebook/errata? I'm looking at the army selection rules now (pages 134 - 135) and it doesn't seem to be there, and it's not in the bit about character mounts either (it'd be weird if it was since that comes before army selection). Can't find it in either the army list or the special rules for the units in the VC book either.

Not sure of any specific pages in the brb, but the the current VC book gives a good breakdown. The example on page 84. 1 being the overall unit and 8 being its options. The options are for the necro so it adds to his overall cost as a hero.

If its an 'upgrade' for a model then it goes under the points for that model.
....its obvious if you played warhammer for a while. But if your a new player...just have to trust us.

"You just have to trust us."

*Shudder* Those should never be words any player has to hear in reference to how rules work. Albeit the case this time :skull: I searched the BRB, as well as the Errata for the BRB, and neither seems to touch on the issue. GW probably things it rather elementary, which is interesting since it contradicts the way some previous editions worked (IE, when you use to use a Rare Slot when your Lord rode a dragon or such).

But that is the way it works now, which makes many powerful alluring mounts (SEE: Fun to play with), less viable since it not only makes your lord/hero easier to hit/kill, it also waste more points you could have spent on other Hero/lords (Or magic items).

To make a case of why it must be thus, consider the fact that while some of the options are their own choices (Like a Terrorghiest for example), not all are, and it would be odd to add points for an Abyssal Horror, while not adding points to the Lord/Hero for a Terrorghiest.
