Corpse cart or Mortis engine idea

So I was watching clash of the titans today. It is part of my greek weekend.

In it there is chevron's boat on the river Styx with two undead things pulling it along on chains. I thought how awesome it would be to make a corpse cart or mortis engine to look like it. Now the question is how.

Hmm if i were to do it i would find a suitable grim looking Charon like this one from a french company. (no clue what the scale is sadly)

Find or make a boat this artwork is so cool with the skullpile inside the boat and the candles ontop of the skulls instead of lanterns.

I found some one who did a similar project here.

I would make it float done like in the project above so it's not just stationary on the ground or with the ethereal glob like on the mortis engine.

Im sitting with a 50 x 100mm base in my hands and I think the undeads draging the boat would need to be on separate 20mm bases with detachable chains. Playwise it would be less usable but would look better than having it all on one base.

If sculpting is your strong suit i would have the robe go over the side of the boat flowing in the wind to give the "mini" a sense of motion!

I really hope you decide to do this because it already looks amazing in my head!

Really plasticard will be the way to go. Or check a hobby shop for model boats but those are traditionally out of scale or out of timeline.
By the way I am in full support of modeling it so that it is passing through a piece of terrain

I remember that boat and it did look great, would be hard to do so you could explain it on land unless you go with the default ghostly look to get about it.
Jools posted some images in the past as to that effect as well with GW models:

I would probs go with ghostly waves mate, easier to model and you can use water you like, water feature, wool, spirit shaped plastic (mortis), perhaps have it coming out of a solid stone wall made of foam only 3 quarters the way out with water feature dripping from it with lichen and whatnot hanging from under it?....

I was close for a long time to making one from the land ship and I am still playing with the idea but I would have to make a sail for it and I am not 100% its deck is large enough never mind trying to redo the back of it and have it floating on a cloud of spirits....
