With my newfound interest in WHFB, comes new creative wishes as well. I would very very much like to try and make some decent-looking battlereports.

I do belive I've tried (or at least dreamed about) this before, but to no avail. I would like to include both a written description of what happens, but also illustrating maps and pretty pictures along with summary comments from both players. To get this done right I would need 2 pretty painted battle forces (to make the pictures look nice), one of which I should paint myself shortly. The other thing I would need is loads of computer skills as I would create the maps in photoshop and try and get this published online in some form or another.

Since I don't have any minatures yet, I've started in the place that I can start: The computer skills. I've played around with photoshop, and do belive that the maps would look something like this

What do you think? Is it horrible? What could be done differently?

My main concern when creating these maps is that my strong side is textures, not icons. So I'm half-decent good at creating grass/snow/units/rocks which is only a blob with a uniform texture all over, but when it comes to creating large detailed image icons, like houses, trees, towers, fences etc, then I find myself at a loss. Anyone know of a good place online where I could rip off some nice allready-made pictures of such things?

I think that it looks really nice the way it does. :)

Looks like it's easy to follow and some smooth shading as well, heheh.

Yeah, I totally agree with MasterSpark. It looks great! Just don't forget to include a key! =)

Looks just like the battle reports in my old white dwarfs :)

Hehe, yeah I guess I'm busted there. I'm very inspired by the way they did mapmaking in the old white dwarves and even army books. Haven't seen any maps in recent battle reports though. Most people tend to just write, and most GW just seem to include pictures. Did everyone stop using maps at some point? Might be just me that's overlooked them since I haven't read any white dwarfs and not too much online either since I started up again. Btw, there is some comments in the 'Important thread' BattleMap program which states that there exists battlereports out there who still use maps. I would love to take a look at a few of these to see how they do it. Anyone got a link?

And thanks for the nice comments :)
