So, here I plan to gather non-VC things that I want to show anyway :)

My most recent models were some Hell Dorado saracens. I just finished Assassin's Creed (like five years after everyone else) and felt an urge to paint something assassiny, so I was very happy to find two models looking like Altair with guns that were just laying around waiting for attention. Some paint later they looked like this:

Next up: … well, no idea really. I've got an idea for a new diorama, but that will be :vampire2:-themed. But I'm hoping GW will put out some new models I can paint up for eBay soon that doesn't look as silly as the most recent Empire and Necron ones.

Nice job, I'm trying to pick up how to do NMM myself and these look very nice. The only thing I'm not certain about are the headscarfs, maybe tie them up with the wristguards/legpieces or go more black.

BTW, your diorama was awesome too! Glad to hear you're about to make another one.

Raizi:
Thanks! I was deciding between red and grey for the headscarfs, and decided gray as I didn't want these models to be to colorful.

Monkey's uncle:
Thanks! Do you want more pics of the saracens, or just pics in general? Because there's not much more to show on those two ;)

Johnny:
Thank you very much! :)

So this next thing is very unlikely to be the next meal of a vampire, but I'll just post it here instead of making a new thread for just it. This at least puts emphasis on the word "different" in the thread title

I'm putting this one up on eBay later tonight, PM me if you want the link to the auction :)

Thanks everybody! And Johnny, yeah, you are kinda right. I guess a space marine respects an opponent who beats him

I've had the Khador Man-O-War Drakhun laying around half-assembled for a while, and as a side project to keep me from getting bored with the town diorama I started building him a base:

It's made from scrap foam blocks and some plaster cloth to make a smooth ground. The horseman will be standing on top of the boulder. The plinth is from Finemolds and about 12 cm across.

I dunno when I'll update this, I'm only working on it when I need a break from renaissance doors and windows. Maybe he'll be done sometime… uh… next decade? :innocent:

I gave him a cloak, as I think the model needs some more different materials. It's really only armor and a little bit of horse skin, so a piece of cloth will complement it nicely I think. It was hard to get a good photo of it, but here are the least crappy ones:

What do you think, more folds maybe? Not sure myself, I'm pretty happy with it actually but it looks a little plain…

Well, it's simple in theory but takes a bit of practice… I made a small Space Marine army (ok, a squad and a half actually) a while ago, where everyone had cloaks, so that gave me a lot of practice. I still need more though…

First I rolled a ball of putty, covered in talcum powder (removes stickiness), and flattened onto a plastic lid. I used my fingers as it gives the control needed to form the ball into a square. When it was about half a millimeter thick (should have made it thicker though, it's ridiculously hard to handle when it's so thin) I attached it to the model and laid it over a drill handle and a brush so it would cure into large folds. When hardened, I added some small folds where it attaches to the shoulder and sharpened the big ones with more putty.

I didn't take any pics of the process, but I hope it's a little useful anyway!

Green stuff is a putty, so yes ;) I'm using ProCreate, which is easier to work with in my opinion. The downside is that it cures softer than GS.

Got some undercoat on him today:

I used black first, and then white from above. I like to do that with display models, it helps to increase contrast in the finished piece.

But now… I'm not sure where to go, color-wise. I've thought of some schemes, but opinions would be great! Basically, I know I want the horse to be dark, the cloak dark or medium, and the armor medium or light. My first idea was dirt-white armor and forest green cloak, with gold details. Then I thought orange armor could look nice with a cold brown cloak and silver details. Both of these would have a black-brown horse. And then, I thought steampunk, and NMM brass armor could become pretty badass, but I'm not sure if I dare  Would you prefer any of these, or do you have some other ideas? I'm happy to hear it all!

Got some paint on the base:

And also did the horse's skin, but it turned out very glossy:

Still undecided on the other colors. I've even begun thinking of green or blue armor. This is gonna take a while…

This side project has been standing still for a while, but now the cloak and the reds are done:

And also, I don't know why I haven't posted this before, but here's a sculpt I'm working on as a side project to the side project. 45mm tall (intended to go 54mm, made huge error in armature, too lazy to fix). Not far to go now.

His cloak comes off to make the painting easier.

The 3rd bottom image looks slightly strange, but otherwise, this is great, Cthulhu! You have great sculpting skills, and it's wonderful to see another Phoenix comic fan here on Carpe Noctem Forum.
