It's a question with many valid answers.

That is true, but no.
That's like saying "What's something white?" and not accepting a cloud as an answer, because your answer is "Sheep". Ladder/Stairs meet the criteria of something that goes up and up and up and never leaves the ground in my mind. It is a correct answer to the riddle.

New riddle!

You are quite right of course, it is a riddle with many valid answers. But I will give the answer any way. It is a mountain.

A mountain is actually a very good answer. It never does leave the ground as it IS the ground. Ambiguity in 'leaves the ground', but a mountain is a very satisfying answer.

Excellent riddle.

PS: A good riddle has one (or very few) satisfying answers...

So whst the new riddle?
Ah screw it, heres the only good one I know:
There is a man in a barn, who had killed himself. He had hanged himself.
There was no sign of how he got up to the rope, except a large puddle of water next to him.

How did he hang himself?

is it your breath?

also

I was on my way to a party, whilst walking there i saw,
-twelve teenagers
-eight adults
-four adolecent children
- and two babys

howmany people are going to this party?

Each morning I appear
To lie at your feet,
All day I will follow
No matter how fast you run,
Yet I nearly perish
In the midday sun.

What am I?

yer, its an easy one.

witch one of these sentances is true and whitch one is fales?

The following sentence is false. The preceding sentence is true.

Are you sure you said that right? Because that says its the first sentance clearly.

Either way heres two:

Your in a darkened room with one match, a gas lamp, an oil lamp and a peice of paper. Which would you light first?

A hill full, a hole full, but you cant catch a bowl full. What is it?

Did you just skip his riddle and write one of your own?

Gotta answer his riddle before you do that...

Besides, the answer to your one is easy, a match (unless you yourself have a lighter, which I have, but wasn't put in the constraints). And the other answer I believe is darkness. His... I don't know. It's a paradox. So the constraints themselves must be false (that is, the very first sentence).
