I wish, we used to meet up for Dark Heresy in the past at GW but the manager would not let us meet up there so we had people have to wait outside in the rain, needless to say some of these people as this has happened on numerous occasions now hate said manager but he is at a different store now.

Most GW staff agree with me though on fine cast being a negative and I won't leave the store before opening it to check the models.

Yeh they are big on kids and don't care about older gamers, our manager went on a rant hammering me because I said I was getting a lift to games day and then pointed out the amount of money I spend in store does not make a difference and is insignificant.
Taking in mind I spend £400 a month average and sometimes over that on just 1 week if I'm splashing out.
So I have decided to save and make my big order next a forge world one before going to online ordering and traveling to other stores... which I will then have delivered to my local. :perv:

Not so bad on paint at our store but no none GW glue.....
I would not have an issue with that but its a bit sh*t...... Over priced Sh*t at that.....
Come on lets face it, how many times has your GW super glue glued itself shit, clogged up the bristles or you cant reach the glue with the brush?....

I never use any glue but Loc-Tite. It kicks the ass of the games workshop stuff into the floor. As such I'm not allowed to assemble my new models at the store

Although I must say, my local manager doesn't neglect his regular veterans in favour of the kiddies. He spends a good portion of his 'not pestering time' talking to them about painting and gaming. Although again, this is a one man store so I suppose he's probably abnormally good

I wish I had a local GW. When the one near me was still open they never pushed me and helped me choose a army that best suited me when I was first getting started..... Ah Khorne Beasts of Chaos....

I was just cursing my superglue today for doing just that. Again. :devil2:

It all comes down to training and communication. I used to be a red-shirt and then the manager of a GW shop. During my entire time in retail, there was extensive training on customer service, and how to talk to customers.

GW staff must greet, and engage in conversation, every person in the shop. This isn't as simple as "hey, have you seen this stuff before? Wanna play a demo game? You should buy X." You are supposed to ask relevant questions to get to know the customers, what armies they collect, where they're at in their hobby, etc.

Identifying customer types was very important, because you don't talk to a seasoned vet who knows what he wants before coming in, the same way you talk to a new, wide-eyed player. One probably needs education about what direction to take his army, and the other just needs to be updated on what's new and what events are coming up.

Unfortunately, it seems that these days many of the staff aren't being properly trained, or don't have the skills to properly talk to customers. So they fall back on the old standby of "Hi how's it goin'? Do you play these games? Oh, you have a 6000 point Vampire Counts army? Uh... Need any glue?"

They don't bother to follow up with open-ended questions to get to know you better, and so don't remember you. Then the next time you come in, it's wash, rinse, repeat, and back to babysitting the kids that get dropped off for the day.

The shops that are down to just the manager are probably better, since the manager would, presumably, have the experience to work with their customers. (My local store is great in this regard). But, yeah, they have sales targets to meet, and it's a difficult, uphill battle of a job.

Check out this BS move that a staff member did. He walked over to a game I was playing and decided that my master necromancer was dead and removed him I had a GK to. We thought he was joking around, but he was serious. I just put him back in the unit. He came over 5 min late and said "I thought I told you he was dead" so we talked to the manager and all he said was if he said that that is what's happening......... So we packed up our stuff and left. We send a letter to GW HQ here in the US, (lucky me I know some of the big bosses there) and the next day I walked in the manager or the staffer didn't even look at me. They got in big trouble. Either way Im done with GW stores and going to stick to other hobby stores

That's really quite appalling. Not just trying (and failing) to abuse their position, but being completely and unnecessarily indecent for, what, amusement? That's a really poor show. At least I can console myself with the thought that my local GW is much more... civil.

Reading this I consider myself very lucky! At my local GW they do ask if I still need this or that but not in a way that is pushy at all AND only by new employees as the others know me as a veteran ie. part of the furniture.
They are actually very honest in that they also say it if they do not like certain models or think some rules do not make much sense.

They sell a lot precisely because it feels like you are talking to fellow gamers rather than plastic dealers.
They really are friendly and interested even if you only come in for advice and not buying.

I've been rather lucky with local GWs, really; the only problem I've had was arriving to see a notice saying "closing party X June" and realising that it was July and I missed it.

I then went to another store for a nice game, and it turned out that I'd arrived for that store's closing party as well! When I finally found my current local I checked to see if there were any cameras and had to ask many times if the shop was closing any time soon. xD

Sometimes they can really be quite nice. I got a box of Warp Spiders which came minus one Spider, and the store mail-ordered me a whole new box for free. I proceeded to *completely* forget about the box, until about 6 months later they said "hey... you!" and told me I had a mail-order which had been gathering dust for donkey's years. I suppose I'm very lucky!

If you make a complaint to GW you are better off making a phone call, letters don't get sorted and it gives them to long to respond, hit them hard and keep them on the back foot so they have to deal with you there and then so they don't have time to invent BS.

So what caused this tool of a staff member to ruin your game without reason?

Perhaps you should get onto GW HQ and tell them this Zephyr. Perhaps then they'll let the hell up on everyone else:lol:

You know I just might. They always want positive feedback so I should just glorify my local staff and nudge them towards "this is hopefully how all GW staff act as it makes me a returning and very satisfied customer".

And then people should do the same with every shop that actually deserves this and mention any that don't

Just flood GW with feedback, it might make them to change something. :)

That or they'll be so busy dealing with it all they won't have time to jack up all of the pricesxD

I can dream can't I

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

Plastic Supplier: Unfortunately, due to the Oil Crisis, the price for plastic will triple, GW.

GW Sales Manager: Oh christ, we better put up our pri-

Jervis Johnson: Haaaalt! We need to reply to all the feedback first!

Mat Ward: Victory or Sovngarde!

*commence replying*

It'd be nice. Still not gonna happen though. xD

I suddenly felt a tinge towards making a space wolf army there. :O
I think their bonus should be dependent on customer satisfaction reviews as well as sales.

You should have replied: "Yes, my necromancer is dead. But he still walks around, because he's undead".

Jagged-Dragon: what is this offline store with 10-15% off?
