AoS - 3rd Dead-End Death Lists

So let me preface this: No, this isn't just about bad lists, I just like alliteration

So I played my first match with the new Battletome. 1k list against Sylvaneth. I went Bone Zone, he went super elite. I got trounced because I made poor decisions.

My list was as follows:

Grand Strategy: The Danse Macabre

Wight King on Skeletal Steed (General), Cloak of Mists and Shadows, Doomed Minions
Vampire Lord: Vile Transference
Necromancer: Fading Vigour

Black Knights
Deathrattle Skeletons (reinforced)
Deathrattle Skeletons (reinforced)
Grave Guard (Great Wight Blades)

Didn't use Core Battalions (I forgor)

His list was the Vanguard box, as the box art, with an extra squad of Kurnoth Hunters with the scythes.

So, my mistake was putting the Wight King and the Black Knights in reserve. And putting my Grave Guard where the Kurnoth Hunters with bows could just gib them

Definitely was a learning experience. Going to have to keep figuring out low-point lists that are enjoyable for me and my opponent. Because I COULD just bring 60 zombies, but uhhh

I like that list! You are right that it is a big mistake to leave your GG out in the open. They should always start in the grave. Only thing that I would change about your list is switching Vile Transference to Spirit Gale or Soul Pike.
