Decent into Madness

A long while back I made a post about building a castle, brick by brick. Someone said that road would lead to madness. May I present to you the first steps on that road.

How big of a castle are you planning on making? Just a small one or a huge fortress? Anyway this is an awesome project and I can't wait to see the end result!

I'm planning on starting small-ish. Basically a starter project or two, then a bit bigger. Think GW building sized stuff. After that I have a really large project that's brewing in my head that can be used as a display for my VC minis.

Did you make the mold yourself or is it a hirstarts mold?

Hirstarts mold.

Had a load of them years ago, they drive you mad i swear.
So many hour spent making buckets of bricks to get started.

Either way the best of look good sir, just don't make the castle too pristine.

Who knew that adult life would entail so much working at jobs and parenting?

Here's some update for ya.

Here's the trail tower painted.

It came out a little darker than I had originally envisioned... but I still like it. Was really quick to paint.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm loath to throw out anything that I could use for some kind of modeling adventure. So I've generated a lot of extra "rock like stuff" from the run off from the mold. And i had to make something. Here's some stuff.

This is what I started with, bunch of stuff that normal people throw away.

Started gluing throw away stuff to a piece of cork.

More stuff glued together.

And then glued some more stuff together, painted it, and got something useful.

Here is the latest WIP. I think I'll have it done by the end of the week.

The tower comes apart into three parts, and will stand about 8 inches tall when it is all said and done.

Almost done! One more set of stairs to get glued on, then the painting starts.

I was thinking about starting around 150, US.

It is 7.5 inches tall from base up the to top. The base is 3 inches by 3 inches, not including the wrap around stairs.

Looking good mate, in all honesty I like the slate cliff/ wall the most.

Makes me happy I can still make these building myself as i still have all the old brick molds.
