Decent White Spray Primer

Hi Guys!
I've just run out of the ol' Citadel Skull White spray and I need to get some more. The only hitch is that the GW one is outrageously expensive nowadays and I've been finding the more recent batches are very hit and miss when it comes to quality.

So I was wondering whether you could provide me with some suggestions for a cheaper or better quality alternative (preferably both!).
I live in the UK, so please take that into consideration when suggesting alternatives (Some of the things you guys in the states put into your aerosols are illegal in the EU!)

P.S. Please note: I am willing to pay more than the GW prices for a Aerosol Primer if it either goes further or is better quality, but cheaper is always preferable provided it doesn't ruin models.

Well, all the sprays from The Army Painter are very very good. You could try them. Also Vallejo produces some fantastic primers (white, gray, black) that you can use with an airbrush or spray gun. Not sure if they come in air cans though

Im a big fan of vallejos black primer in a spray can. I cant speak for the white but I cant imagine why it would be any less of a quality product. I dont know if its any cheaper then GWs thou since I have not bought a can of GW in years since my local store does not stock GWs primers. You have peaked my interest, what do americans put in primer that you guys cant? Im going to guess its one of those chemicals listed on the side in big bold print that says "has been found to cause cancer" lol

Both vallejo spray can primer and army painter spray can primer are good. The quality of the primer is most often determined by the user however.

That is to say: every brand of primer can go bad if you use it while the air humidity is too high, or if you spray to close to your miniature.

Another awesome alternative would be to get a cheapo airbrush setup and use vallejo polyurethane primers. They are cheap, aply very evenly (especially through an airbrush ofcourse) and can therefor be applied in very thin layers.

Mind you, polyurethane primers are less durable than spraycan primers in my experience... So make sure you get a good sealant to go with it.

I'm just trowing the airbrush option in there because it opened up a whole new world of painting joy and speed for me.

I'll have to take a look at the vallejo one.
I've been thinking about getting an air-brush for a while, but while I have the money to get a cheap airbrush, I can't really justify the cost of compressor for the minimum of work I'd bee doing with it.

I'm well aware of the humidity issues having had it ruing more than one undercoat, sadly with the GW primers, I've been spraying my models the same way I've always sprayed them (I've been using GW spray primers for at least 8 years now) and the quality has seemed to deteriorate.

P.S. I've only just replied as I lost power over here from 14:30 to about 20:30 despite it being lovely weather. Apparently it was most of the West Midlands though, so they must have made a pretty serious cock-up.

EDIT: BllodKnight: I don't think it's the cancer stuff, we seem to have half the products over here containing ingredients that may or may not be carcinogenic, it seems it's the stuff that's really damaging to the environment as opposed to the human body that they're not allowed to put in.
