Did you know:
That the poison they use to euthanise animals with is green and tastes really bad? (I know from personal experience)
That many animal shelters have to go to their kennels each morning, select a number of animals (depending on the size of the shelter and amount of overcrowding, sometimes it can be like 10 or more animals) and euthanise them?
That it was estimated that 99% of dogs in petstores in the United States come from puppy mills, which breed dogs for sale to petstores in incredibly inhumane conditions?
That no responsible animal breeder would sell one of their puppies to a pet store, and that responsible breeders interview prospective buyers to ensure that the animal is well treated?
That getting your dog (or cat, much of the above applies to cats as well) sterilised not only prevents them from reproducing, flooding the streets with kittens or puppies that will likely die on the streets or be euthanised in the shelters, but prevents them from getting many of the life threatening cancers, infections and illnesses that cost hundreds (or thousands) of dollars to treat?
That there are many organisations that offer free or very cheap sterilisations for dogs and cats?
That by adopting dogs and cats from animal shelters not only saves that animal from being euthanised, but...
1# frees up space in the shelter, saving other animals from being euthanised
2# means you arent funnelling cash to cruel and inhumane puppy mills that pump out dogs while shelters euthanise dogs
Just something to think about.
