From Hellebron's magic items:

Deathsword and the Cursed Blade:
Magic Weapon. Paired Weapons. Hits from Deathsword and the Cursed Blade are resolved at Strength 10. If a model rolls a 1 To Hit whilst attacking Hellebron in close combat, it suffers an automatic Strength 4 hit for each 1 rolled.

And then of course there's the Night Shroud:

NIGHTSHROUD
The Nightshroud adds + 1 to the bearer's armour save.
Furthermore, enemy models in base contact with the wearer
lose all Strength bonuses conferred from normal and magical
weapons, and have the Always Strikes Last special rule.

So are Hellebron's weapons conferring a "strength bonus" here? Or is the bonus +2 Strength from something like a lance or the Ogre Blade different than a weapon that "resolves" the attacks at a different strength?

I don't think Hellebrons' weapons count as strength bonuses, no. Ogre Blade or Giant blade gives a bonus that changes strengh on your statline, whereas this is a magical attack that is "resolved at strenght 10" and therefore not a direct bonus.

It is a Weapon which provides higher S attacks, it is definitely a S bonus. The Nightshroud works here just as it does against the Fellblade.

Its a total OP weapon anyway so its more than decent that Nightshroud destroys its effect :D
Plus idd, Nightshroud negates any effect that adds strength to an attack that is different than the standard statline strength of the model.
"lose all strength bonuses conferred from normal and magical weapons"
Deathsword and cursed blade are weapons that gives a clear strength bonus, maybe not the same way as Ogre blade etc. but its still a fat strength bonus.

Cewl. I just, for some reason, assumed it had to be a bonus worded like that of Ogre Blade for the Shroud to work. But me likey these news;)

Yeah I was concerned about this myself. I *felt* like any item that adds strength would count, but this makes me happy to hear.

Now the real question is whether my nightshroud lord should get a great weapon or a lance :P

Against Elves, go for the lance. You don't need the S7, and you don't want to give up your re-rolls.

This is my all-comers list I'm thinking about. He runs solo on a hellsteed to tag-team with my other fliers (risky I know, but it's fun). I'm gunna give him nightshroud to make him a bit more tanky, but the big question is how to keep him killy while I do that?

Lance + QB-RF = S7 ASF only for a turn, but 2+ save in CC
GW + QB-RF = S7 all the time, but at I with no rerolls, and only a 3+ save
Sword of Might + QB-RF = S6 ASF all the time, but I can only afford a 5++ that way and no OTS.

Leaning towards the lance at the moment.
