Hey guys I’m not the fastest painter to begin with and sometimes I change the color scheme half way thru or even leave them and start on something ells, anyways this can stretch to a couple of months before I get back to the first project, problem is that when I finally do get around to painting again the mini’s are full of dust particles :swear:.

So how do you solve this problem?

1. Do I run them under cold water?
2. Use a hair dryer?
3. A damp cloth?

And the second part, are their ways to prevent dust collecting?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially if you’ve experienced the same problem and won.

So I found an old dusty mini that needed to be repainted anyways and decided to try the tap idea, I’m happy to say that it worked.

V thanks for the heads up ill try to store them in from now on.

on another note try using a piece of tissue to remove dust, make sure its quite tough tissue and not the issue that breaks away easily leaving tissue bits everywhere this could be useful if rolled to get into nooks and crannys
just an idea anyway

The best thing I've found to shift dust is a really big flat headed brush. The super large dry brush by GW is a good example. Also, those little keyboard vacuums are good to shift the dust.

Wow so many great advice thank you all so much, the running cold water seems to have taken most of the dust off, ill try some of the other stuff for the rest.

Yeah I always tend to go for an older brush and wipe that dust away. I tend to encounter this problem a lot as my miniatures sit there on my painting desk, mocking me with their un-paintedness...

Whoa, got lost in my own thoughts there :P

I just wanted to say that it's probably not the greatest idea to change colour schemes too often. I know because that's how I roll too, I can't seem to fix on one idea. But if you stick with one strong theme throughout your army, the whole thing will look a looooot better. Maybe you could have it so that all your army has a common thing, such as all metal is dark red, meaning you could go all out and have different colours all over the place but still have a strong theme running through.

Just an idea, just stick with it and I'm sure it'll all turn out good(or evil).

Cheers,
Xaret

For dust, I use a large brush, then dampen the brush and go again. This picks up lots of dust. If the dust is more ingrained, dampen the brush (or cotton wool) with acrylic varnish remover. The BIG proviso here is the mini would need to have been varnished, otherwise you're removing paint. Even with the remover, use it very sparingly, as soon as the mini is clean, or you see pigment on the wool, STOP!

It works great though.
