so i'm biting a bullet and making a project log of my very own. a conversation in the painting and modeling section got me talking about the long term ascetic of my planned army, and i think that would be better served here. so on to my evil evil plans of doom and exposition... and monologue.

composition: mostly picked from what models i like, will change them as i figureout what works for my play style
Lords and heroes: i plan on useing necros and vampires, with one wright king for BSB because banners are cool and thematic.
Core: zombies and wormwood groves(dryads for ghouls) and wolves
Special: skinwolves(crypt horrors),gargoyles (chaos furys painted grey), muders of crows (razorwing flocks as bat swarms), undead flagellates (spirithosts), hexwraiths, vargheists.
Rare: Vargulf(useing another model, probably a demon prince), cairn wraiths, black coach(maybe), terrorgheists.

i have one model at the moment of my evil plan because i just moved and money is tight, that's my lord to be, the ex-dark elf, Nytag Ebonhart(a shadowblade model, its just a cool pose and one of the LSGs closed so $15 for a $20 model).i plan on converting a WE wildrider or DE warlock torso on to the shawdow blade legs.

more to come after my first paycheck.

Well I already explained the issues with using a DP as a vargulf due to the amount of required sculpting and the large amount of chaos iconography.

You see the main issue with any army like this is you need to plan a theme to build around else it may not work.

Have you got any images of conversions you are hoping to work towards or any in progress pieces so far?

that you did, but i really love the demon prince model. here is a converted one i saw:

its not the one that gave me the idea but its close enough. as i've whined about before vargulfs CAN'T FLY! so they don't need wings.
and sadly i don't have a camera at the moment. i'll pester my friend to borrow his when i have something to show for my self. probably this weekend. i also picked up a demon prince model. as for my theme its kind of horror movie/Halloween theme general coloration picked from this dude:

Problem is though he looks great and has a great paint job he still looks allot like a Damon Prince, He is still covered in runes and even the fur which does look good is a pain to do well.
If you have your heart set on it go for it mate and don't let anything stop you but remember to try and distance yourself as much as possible from the chaos look else it may just come off as an ambiguous kit bash.
I remember doing similar things myself with my Carnafex Abysal terror... (I shudder to think of it now)

and now that i finally got a not as shitty camera i can post again. in the mean time I've painted bit so here what I've got so far.
3 vargeists and a vargulf. and they are technically WIPs but whatevs, i need to finish the bases and decide if i want to scrape off the metal on the shoulders and legs. maybe permanently position the chains.

pics time!

admittedly i was going to dirty, not i just dunked them in paint, but I've been out of the painting part of things for a while. oh well. the idea was he was the local sigmar priest before the vamps took over. let a vampire to mad with hunger then throw various servants into the basement with him, genius! anyway the vargeists.

currently working on the weeping wormwoods and Mr. Crow their champion. i'll post them when i get them to ok/close enough.

Don't be hard on yourself, they are looking good. I would suggest a little touch up on the ink spots and a little highliight action and they will realy kick ass. Keep up the good work.
