Emergency Theme Testing

It has been noted that CN's server is possibly being overloaded by our new theme.

Everyone has temporarily been switched to a back-up theme whilst this testing is taking place.

Please bear with me.

I don't know if it's related, but with the new theme CN seems to be going a lot slower for me. It used to be much faster.

Although occasionally I get random super-fast periods for a short amount of time... this has only happened about twice though. Otherwise it's much slower in general.

Perhaps it's just my internet?

I've noticed some sluggishness too. There seems to be quite a lot more stuff for each page to load before it is rendered completely now, although I'm sure it could be optimised pretty efficiently.

No that was the reason for testing. It is starting to pick up now, testing is still happening. It does not seem to be the new theme though.

Might the PM system have been affected? I think I've sent a couple now to a user who's been online since and unless they just aren't replying yet, they might have been swallowed...?

This might just be completely wrong though, and they did arrive, but the person just hasn't had the time to reply yet, which is totally understandable. We all have busy lives after all!

Same here... Pages are taking forever to load for me. Does it matter that I'm on Internet Explorer at all?

No, it's something do do with the new stuff that's been installed. I am still trying to pinpoint was is causing the slowdown.

I see it regardless of browser.. in fact using Opera on my phone was so slow, I went and dug a PC up out of the basement this morning when my wife stole my laptop.

I see the "lag" regardless of browser (IE, FF, and Opera)

Interesting, I have been speaking over at MyBB (our forum software forum), and someone else on the same host using the same VPS service has reported the same issue. It may not be our new theme at all, but our host. Keep tuned!

I do not know if this is for the back up, or the main theme, but I tried clicking "Mark All Messages Read" on the main forum and it gave me an error "Authorization Code Mismatch".

Just thought it may be useful info.

I have confrimed that error, and added it to bug report section.

Just a follow up.

Our host has advised they will try migrating us to new hardware, which should mean our VPS is less contested with other VPS, and should give us much better performance. If this works I will re-enable certain features on the forum.
