Ok I made that title misleading on purpose. What I mean is, are spirit host a complete waste of time when playing all the rules from end times.

You can bet your bickies that any elven host will have a unit or two with magical arrows, so units like spirit host will get wiped out faster than a straw house.
Then with Kaine magic 4D6 power dice there is a lot of magic flying around, the second a spirit host becomes even a tickle of an issue for any opponent, holding up a unit or providing cover, the heavens are sure to rain down with magical ruin.

So with all this in mind would anyone ever field spirit host? Seems like a point sink to me, but they are such beautiful models id like someone to show me the light and prove me wrong so I can justify buying a box or two.

Use nagash and summon multiples.
I haven't fielded ethereals in my Endtimes games either. Just use them with lore of undeath, bring ten hexwraiths into play behind your enemy and laugh maniacally.

Fielding anything that doesn't buff your magic or is extremely fast and maneuverable is suicide with khaine magic.

Your opponent will just wipe anything that isn't already in combat off the board with his wizard.

We don't play special characters very often. Even if i did start taking Nagash is too easy to kill with Kaine magic. my opponent will just start taking 1L4 light wizard and 3-4 Lv1 wizards and spam light direct damage spells doing alot of S8-9 hits...

Agreed. Nothing is safe in Kane magic!

next game im going to take a very fast army and try get into combat straight away. This stops alot of magical damage if the wizard units are in combat... Hoever now a wizard can just cast Arcane Folcrum and pop out beside the unit in combat gain a 3+ward and heavy cover

He has T7 and a 4+ ward save. Summon a fulcrum for a 3+ if light magic worries you.
The thing to really look out for is Deadlock from High Magic. Take a backup hero necro when fielding Nagash in Endtimes

don't think Nagash can use a fulcrum. The rules state he must fit on it, if the model cannot fit, it cannot use the fulcrum. I'm pretty sure that's to prevent all the end of times big bad heroes gaining a 3+ward and hard cover.

I stopped using Hexwraiths, since every mage and his mother can now banish them with relative ease, and they are not that easy to get back.

I've been saying that since before the ET. What with elves everywhere, magic missiles in both their lores, and everyone taking magic missiles to fight them, Hex Wraiths are paper in a scissors-heavy meta.

Spirit hosts don't really suffer from that, since wasting dice to shoot at a 45-point model isn't really high on most opponents' priority lists. I'd just rather raise up free chaff than spend the 45 points on them at all.
